ProcessOut at Checkout.com

We're a team responsible for maintaining and evolving a Payment Orchestration Platform called ProcessOut. This platform was acquired by Checkout.com in March 2020 and is already powering many large and famous brands like Glovo, NordVPN, and Bolt (with many more that we can’t name and even more to come).

We're a self-sufficient team within the larger org of Checkout.com that still operates in a fully agile way. Our Product and Engineering teams support us, and we all build and evolve our product together.

Our backend services are written in Go, backed by multiple data stores (Redis, DynamoDB, CockroachDB, Postgres…), and our platform spans multiple AWS regions. We run multiple Kubernetes (EKS) clusters per region, fronted by Envoy edge proxies routing globally. We use Terraform for Infrastructure as Code. Datadog is extensively used for monitoring and alerting.

We are experiencing constant growth in the number of handled transactions, new clients and integrations. That’s why we pay close attention to the elegant design and scalability of the platform. We are looking for dedicated engineers with a drive to own and improve solutions who want to join us on our journey.

Job Description

You will be joining a passionate team of Platform Engineers working to scale ProcessOut’s Payment Infrastructure to planetary scale.

What will you be doing

• Collaborating with passionate technologists across multiple disciplines while evolving our platform and increasing security, resiliency and scalability.
• Working to create and distribute best practices for future-proof service development to the rest of the team.
• Continuously evaluate the team’s workflow and contribute to its improvement and automation.
• Joining an on call rotation which is shared between team members.

Qualifications

• Passionate about designing and operating distributed systems
• Self-motivated and able to deliver consistent results through problem-solving
• Having a strong sense of ownership and willingness to drive the technical vision for owned remit.
• Have experience with AWS
• Have experience with cluster orchestration systems (preferably Kubernetes)
• Care about writing clean, well-composed, and tested infrastructure-as-code.
• Have experience with programming languages (Golang, Python, or other) and scripting (bash), ideally have been working as a Software Engineer in past.
• Believe in Continuous Delivery and patterns such as GitOps.
• Understand the importance and value of DevOps and SRE principles.
• Have good knowledge of network infrastructure design & public cloud architecture.

Bonus points for

• Working in PCI, ISO 27001, SOC-compliant environments
• History of operating critical high-traffic environments
• Experience with Istio
• Using and implementing security tools such as Aquasec, Snyk, Falco etc.
• Familiarity with GitOps toolings such as Flux2 or similar
