Position Summary:
Works within a cellular environment to completely and independently setup, adjust, and operate a variety of precision machines, such as lathes, grinders, milling machines, etc. to perform machining functions. Determine method and sequence of work operations. Collaborate with customers, support organizations, and supervisor to solve design and/or developmental problems. Perform all tasks involved in the coordination, preparation and movement of materials for assigned area and receive, store and issue all materials and facilitate the correction of discrepancies according to processes and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sets up, and operates machine to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customers specifications.
- Work with and interpret prints, sketches, diagrams, specifications, verbal information, handbook formulas, job layouts, etc., and use shop mathematics including trigonometry and descriptive geometry.
- Utilize machine capacities and minimize the amount of machining and number of setups.
- Use any and all required precision measuring instruments and methods necessary to complete and check own work assignment. Provide part quality information and statistics as required.
- Select proper tools, fixtures, machine attachments, equipment, etc., necessary to complete work assignment. Detect faulty tools and take corrective action.
- Monitor machining system operations including electrical/electronic and mechanical diagnostics and cutter, probe, and sensor data and make appropriate adjustments.
- Operate any and all types of information systems required to perform assigned task.
- Perform work described in other classifications when incidental but necessary to the accomplishment of the assignment.
- Perform bench or hand work necessary to finish parts to required specifications.
- Use hand and shop power tools.
- Analyzes drawings and specifications manuals and plans machine building operations
- Verifies conformance of parts to drawings and manufacturing plans using measuring instruments like calipers, gauges and micrometers
- Verifies part finish and uses appropriate process to ensure drawing configuration
- Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts using measuring instruments like dial indicators or thickness gauges
- Verifies part functionality as required
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience
- Two to five (2-5) years related machinist experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent on the job training Experienced in Esprit CAD/CAM software
- CREO Manufacturing software experience DOE Q-Clearance

Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required."
