Construction Engineer

Position Summary: 

Reports directly to the engineering Manager of Construction, applicant will be responsible for supporting plant modification process including, but not limited to, plant infrastructure construction of systems, structures, and components in the Construction Engineering and Site Technical Representative role(s).

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Primary point of contact for plant infrastructure process.
• Responsibilities include field oversight and flow-down of Licensed programs, policies, and procedure, including but not limited to, Industrial Safety and Regulatory compliance. 
• Centrus site liaison for selected construction contractor performance including:
  • Identification and coordination of Centrus provided contractor training 
  • Site lead for contractor submittal receipt, cross-discipline reviews, and approval coordination 
  • Coordination of Centrus generated permits for the trained contractors
  • Field oversight of performance in line with contract requirements and design outputs 
  • Processing of contractor site visit requested, site badging process, electronics equipment request, vehicle passes, and RADCON/Industrial Hygiene  documentation
  • Perform contractor invoice reviews and verifications
  • Centrus lead for final construction field walk-downs, punch-list generation, and performance in line with direct procurement and design outputs. 
• Support Design Engineering as a Responsible Engineer Designer (RED) for the civil engineering disciple and or Construction Engineer/Site Technical Representative (CE/STR) roles.
• Generate engineering estimates at the budgetary, conceptual design, and detailed design time frames for selected projects.
• Supports development, issuance, and compliance with site excavation, trenching, and surface permits
• Ensure contractors follow Lift Plan development and use
• Ensure contractors follow Urinalysis Program requirements
• Ensure contractors follow Radiological Protection Program and Distribution of Dosimetry
• Ensure contractors follow Radioactive Source Control program
• Ensure contractors follow Hazcom program, Confined Space Program, Respiratory Protection Program, Carcinogen Control Program, LO/TO program, Contractor Safety program, Safety and Health Work Permit process, FOCI process, and Dedication of Commercial Grade Item programs, Weld/Burning Hot Work Program, and Electrical Safety 

Education and Experience

Minimum Education

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil engineering from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) school or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Minimum Experience

• 5-7 years Civil Engineering experience preferred
• Project Management experience preferred
• Experience in communication cycles with various functional groups
• Posses effective oral and written communication skills
• Be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” level security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

• Currently posses a DOE “Q” level security clearance
