The Role:

We are seeking an accomplished Senior AI Engineer to join our dynamic AI & Analytics team, focusing on fine-tuning and optimizing large-scale AI models for enterprise applications. You will work with generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and multi-agent systems to enhance automation, reasoning, and decision-making in business processes. Your role will involve leveraging and customizing state-of-the-art AI models, integrating them into enterprise workflows, and collaborating with data engineers to ensure high-quality AI-driven automation. This role aligns closely with data engineering responsibilities, ensuring AI models are optimized for structured and unstructured enterprise data while leveraging best practices in AI/ML deployment, pipeline integration, and governance.

The work you’ll do:

• Fine-tune and optimize large language models (LLMs) and generative AI models for enterprise applications.
• Develop and refine AI model pipelines, focusing on RAG, embedding techniques, and prompt optimization.
• Research and apply advanced AI methodologies such as reinforcement learning, knowledge representation, and multi-agent AI for business process enhancements.
• Collaborate with data engineers to integrate AI-powered automation with enterprise  applications (ERP, CRM, ITSM) and ensure robust data workflows.
• Enhance AI models by incorporating retrieval-based augmentation, vector search, and  adaptive learning techniques.
• Develop and optimize prompt engineering techniques to improve AI model responses for contextual enterprise use cases.
• Ensure scalability, robustness, and interpretability of AI solutions for real-world enterprise applications.
• Work closely with data engineers to maintain data quality, integrity, and security while enabling AI-driven insights.
• Continuously explore and prototype emerging AI technologies, assessing their applicability for Celonis Garage initiatives.

The qualifications you need:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data  Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in artificial intelligence, deep learning, or cognitive computing.
• Strong expertise in Python, AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and AI system design.
• Hands-on experience in fine-tuning LLMs (e.g., OpenAI GPT, Llama, Mistral, Claude) and generative AI models.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and vector databases.
• Deep understanding of AI reasoning, knowledge representation, and explainable AI techniques.
• Proficiency in advanced prompt engineering techniques to optimize AI model responses and contextual understanding.
• Familiarity with reinforcement learning, decision-making models, and multi-agent AI systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based AI services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed AI architectures.
• Proficiency in integrating AI with enterprise data sources such as SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow.
• Strong understanding of AI safety, ethical AI, and responsible AI deployment practices.
• Familiarity with data engineering best practices, including data pipelines, ETL processes, and stream processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Flink).

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

• Experience with AI agents and orchestration frameworks (e.g., AutoGPT, CrewAI, OpenAI Function Calling).
• Expertise in knowledge graphs, graph neural networks (GNNs), and hybrid AI techniques.
• Familiarity with symbolic AI, logic programming, and causal AI for business decision support.
• Experience in designing and deploying AI-powered enterprise automation solutions.
• Hands-on experience with AutoML frameworks for scalable AI experimentation.
• Exposure to process mining methodologies and business process modeling (BPMN, DMN).
• Experience working closely with data engineering teams to align AI and data workflows for business applications.
