Lead Audio/Video Engineer - College of Fine Arts

Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Fine Arts (CFA), School of Music, is searching for a Lead Audio/Video Engineer to join their team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing audio and video recording for a variety of events and performances in the School of Music.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Primary responsibility for audio and video recording of selected recitals, concerts, and events.

• Drafts stage layouts and production specifications for all events requiring audio/video recording and/or sound reinforcement.

• Manages crew of student audio & video engineers needed to fulfill School of Music audio/video recording and sound reinforcement obligations.

• Plans and coordinates audio/video recording, sound reinforcement requirements, and post production for all ensemble concerts, opera productions, student, faculty, and guest recitals, special projects, as well as other events in Kresge Recital Hall or Alumni Concert Hall and at off-campus venues.

• Serve as Lead Audio & Video Engineer for School of Music.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable certification or technical degree in a relevant study

• Experience recording classical music in solo, chamber music, and large ensemble settings

• Understanding of Dante, VoIP protocols, Pro Tools, Final Cut or similar programs and structures

• Experience with audio & video production and broadcast for online delivery

You should demonstrate:

• Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and interact with campus community and external customers.

Additional Information:

• This is a part-time (approximately 25 hours/week), non-exempt position. It is expected to last from February 10-March 21, 2025.
