Description
About Cardo Systems
Cardo Systems is a provider of cutting-edge communication and connectivity devices and applications for powersports and outdoor enthusiasts. In 2026, Cardo is proudly unveiling its Beyond Helmet line, the first of its kind in the motorcycle industry, fostering a new age in safety, sound, and communications. After pioneering the world’s first Bluetooth-based wireless intercom headset in 2004, Cardo has been responsible for many of the industry’s innovations, revolutionizing communication, pushing technological boundaries, and enhancing user safety. Now sold in over 100 countries, Cardo is proud to be the world’s leading communication device for groups in motion.
Cardo Systems is seeking an ATE Team Leader to lead the multidisciplinary team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Automated Test Equipment across Cardo's production sites. This is a hands-on, cross-functional management role: the manager owns day-to-day delivery of the ATE team, spanning software, hardware, mechanical, QA, and integration engineering, and is accountable for test-station readiness during NPI and sustained testing performance during mass production. The role reports to the VP of operations and engineering and acts as the operational lead for all ATE build and support activities.
Key Responsibilities
ATE Delivery
- Manage the day-to-day design, build, testing, and deployment of ATE systems across Cardo production sites, in line with the product test requirements set.
- Plan and track ATE capacity build-out to meet test-throughput requirements for both NPI ramp and steady-state mass production.
- Own ATE readiness milestones during NPI, ensuring test stations are qualified and available per the product roadmap.
- Oversee ongoing ATE maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to sustain uptime and minimize test-line downtime during mass production.
Cross-Functional Team Management
- Directly manage and coordinate a multidisciplinary ATE team spanning Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Integration Engineering.
- Set priorities and allocate engineering resources across these functions to keep ATE projects on schedule and within budget.
- Apply systems engineering practices to align SW, HW, mechanical, and integration work streams around a single, coherent ATE system architecture.
- Run technical reviews and design checkpoints across disciplines to catch integration issues early, before station build and qualification.
- Directly manage the communication and the technical interactions with the R&D teams (HW, ME, FW, SW).
Quality & Test Performance
- Partner with QA to define ATE test plans, acceptance criteria, and calibration standards that support high First Pass Yield (FPY).
- Monitor test data and station performance to identify and resolve systemic test or equipment issues.
- Ensure ATE test software and fixture changes follow proper change-control and validation procedures.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with NPI, Production Engineering, and EMS/vendor teams to align ATE delivery with product and production timelines.
- Manage and report ATE project status, risks, and resource needs to the VP Operations & Engineering.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering; advanced degree an advantage.
- 3+ years of experience managing ATE design, test engineering, or systems engineering within consumer electronics or comparable high-volume manufacturing.
- 3+ years of experience managing a multidisciplinary engineering or system team.
- Systems engineering experience, with demonstrated ability to define and manage requirements, interfaces, and architecture across a multidisciplinary test system.
- Proven capability to manage and coordinate multiple engineering functions concurrently, including Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, QA, Mechanical (ME) Engineering, and Integration Engineering.
- Solid understanding of test-software architecture, HW/electronics test design, mechanical fixture design, and system integration, sufficient to direct and evaluate specialists in each area.
- Familiarity with FPY-driven quality methodologies and test-data analysis (e.g., Six Sigma, DFT).
- Experience coordinating with EMS/vendor manufacturing sites, including sites in China, Europe, or other Asian manufacturing hubs, is an advantage.
- Strong project management and cross-functional communication skills.
- Fluent English required.
- Willingness to travel to global EMS and vendor sites as needed.
