The Director, Strategy & Business Development - OptiFreight will be a hands-on individual contributor which provides thought leadership, direction, and expertise in the development and execution of business strategies to maximize growth and improve customer satisfaction. This individual is responsible for researching, evaluating, and recommending new service, channel, and/or carrier expansion opportunities in alignment with business strategies and customer needs. This individual continuously identifies and cultivates innovative supply chain management solutions for the healthcare market and collaborates with other cross functional teams to assess strategic fit, technical feasibility, and organizational alignment. This is NOT a sales position.

We currently have one remote role based out of the US.

Responsibilities

  • Own business development for OptiFreight regarding new service, channel, and/or carrier expansion opportunities in alignment with business strategies and customer needs.
  • Perform market and competitive analysis, supporting strategic recommendations with data and focused market insights within healthcare as well as the broader supply chain/logistics industry.
  • Anticipate and build alignment around growth drivers, macro trends, customer dynamics, competitive environment.
  • Proactively monitor, track, interpret, and share industry, competitive and innovation trends. Perform industry/competitive analysis, supporting strategic recommendations with data and focused insights
  • Identify levers to accelerate growth and expand capabilities to create a differentiated competitive advantage; support the make vs. buy assessment.
  • Translate market and customer needs into clearly defined goals, objectives, and recommendations to inform future business strategies and longer-term investments.
  • Lead the creation of all phases of a business case (e.g., market analysis, value proposition, strategic fit, economic models and launch) that could solve or enhance an existing business need, accelerate growth, and/or increase our ease of doing business.
  • Prepare best in class, clear, concise, and creative presentations and supporting materials in support long-range strategic planning, strategic projects, and business development with high focus on strategic communications to gain investment.
  • Lead early risk-based diligence and valuation activities, and shepherd M&A opportunities through the consideration and approval process in partnership with corporate development.
  • Partner with Corporate Development to evaluate and advance inorganic growth opportunities. This entails input and support across all stages of deal flow, including screening, strategic rationale, valuation, diligence, and integration planning.
  • Excel in a matrixed management environment; communicate regularly with executive teams.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of related work experience in healthcare, consulting, strategy, business development, R&D, and/or supply chain, logistics strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in performing market research as well as using voice of customer, benchmarking, and market insights to develop commercial strategies to influence long range product development roadmaps
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Results driven, proven ability to perform and to take initiative without direct oversight and to work independently in a fast paced, evolving environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen

Anticipated base salary range: $114,700 - $185,000

* The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
