Role Summary:

Capital One is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager to lead project management with a focus on risk mitigation and control implementation. In this role, you will be at the intersection of operations, product, and technology, driving initiatives that enhance our platform's security, compliance, and overall customer experience.
You will lead a team responsible for leading key initiatives, partnering closely with Risk, Product, and Technology teams to design, implement, and maintain robust controls across the Payments ecosystem. What will you do?
Lead a team of project managers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment focused on delivering secure and compliant payment solutions.
Partner with Risk Management to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks within the Card Inbound Payments platform.
Collaborate with Product Management and Technology teams to integrate effective controls into the design and development of new and existing payment features.
Oversee the project management lifecycle for control-related initiatives, ensuring timely execution, clear communication, and adherence to quality standards.
Drive the implementation of preventive controls to minimize risk events and improve operational efficiency.
Manage projects related to payment modernization efforts, ensuring seamless transitions, robust control coverage, and minimal customer impact.
Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies, maintaining a strong focus on compliance.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across various departments, including Risk, Product, Technology, Operations, Legal, and Compliance.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and project metrics to track progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
Champion a culture of risk awareness and proactive problem-solving within the team and across stakeholder groups.

Ideal Candidate Would Have:
Experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on payment operations, risk management, or compliance.
A strong understanding of payment processing, including relevant technologies and industry standards.
Experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring controls within a complex operational environment.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Risk, Product, and Technology teams.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 4 years of Project Management experience
At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering or interacting with internal business clients
At least 2 years of People Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree or MBA
5+ years of Project Management experience
5+ years of experience with project management platforms (JIRA, MS Project, Confluence)
4+ years of experience supporting, partnering or interacting with internal business clients
3+ years of People Management experience
Lean, Agile, Six Sigma or Business Process Management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr Manager, Project Management
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
