About the team: 

Enterprise Data drives Capital One’s data strategy and creates products that support data producers and consumers across all corners of the company. Our Data Culture and Strategic Engagement team supports the Chief Data Officer’s mission to build a world-class data organization. Our dedicated team works with a group of highly engaged partners to cultivate understanding of the importance of data and our data ecosystem in driving business processes and innovation, foster collaboration across the company towards a long term data strategy, and create strategies for attracting top talent to data roles.

About the role: 

We are seeking a customer-centric and results-driven Project Manager to lead the development and rollout of initiatives designed to increase awareness of the importance of data, our data ecosystem, and data roles among associates outside of the data community. In this role you will own the end-to-end development and implementation of innovative solutions that empower Capital One associates to effectively manage data and leverage industry-leading analytics technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders — including the team lead, learning and development partners, senior data leaders, and more — to deliver impactful, highly visible programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a transformative effort to enhance data competency across Capital One!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with stakeholders in Enterprise Data, Divisional data organizations, and key job families to understand the resources, policies, and training that associates in non-data roles need to work effectively with data

  • Drive design and implement education initiatives that equip associates to understand the value and application of best practices in data management and analysis, in collaboration with Learning and Development

  • Influence stakeholders across the company to align business, risk, and talent processes to the Chief Data Officer’s strategy for building a world-class data organization

  • Design, develop, and manage project plans in a complex environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements

  • Leverage problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent

  • Facilitate and create presentations for monthly steering committee and other meetings as needed with senior leaders, implementation partners, and key stakeholders to gather input, drive consensus, and maintain engagement throughout the project lifecycle

  • Define and track key performance indicators to measure the success of initiatives

  • Refine initiatives in response to feedback, changing organizational needs, and new data tools, products, and policies

Skills:

  • Strong foundational skills in problem-solving, project and/or management, and stakeholder engagement

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to extract insights from data

  • Comfortable in front of senior executives, with a knack for communication and breaking down complex information into easily digestible overviews

  • Able to handle ambiguity without losing sight of the project’s direction and commitment

  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment and quickly put structure in place to manage the work

  • A passion for learning and personal growth

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience, or commensurate work experience

  • At least 5 years of project management, program management, or consulting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or MBA 

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

  • Prosci or Change Management certification

  • 1+ year of experience working in the Tech, Data, and/or Financial Services industries

  • 2 + years experience with implementing Recruiting, Talent, Learning and Development, and/or Organizational Development solutions

  • 2+ years in communicating and collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams and partners

  • 2+ years of experience communicating with executives, including meetings, presentations, memos, and reports

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Manager, Project Management


 

New York, NY: $159,400 - $181,900 for Manager, Project Management


 

Richmond, VA: $132,800 - $151,600 for Manager, Project Management


 


 


 


 


 


 


 


 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
