A day in the life of a Capital One Software Engineering Co op

Team Apeiron is a team of devoted & talented backend and front end engineers who have the passion to make a difference. Our team builds and maintains the mobile platform (iOS & Android) and we’re on a mission to reduce the friction involved in allowing teams in our Canadian studio the ability to build a feature on the mobile applications. Our focus for 2024 is server driven UI and understanding how this concept can help us in our mission. 

We’re looking for someone to join our team who has a passion to jump into something new and create long lasting impacts. You will have the opportunity to work on different layers of technology and collaborate with external teams to help achieve our mission. You will be involved in building tooling, feature development, testing (unit test, component test and integration test), deployment, monitoring and fixing cyber security and vulnerability fixes.

What you’ll be doing as a Software Engineer

• Work as part of a dynamic team throughout the software development life cycle

• Collaborate with designers and analysts to implement enhancements or new applications 

• Develop code to meet story acceptance criteria 

• Explore new technologies and tooling and provide clear and concise documentation

• Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality, and time to market imperatives
   

Basic qualifications: 

• Will obtain or have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or higher between 2025-2026

• Excited to learn and explore new technologies

• Good communication, presentation, and writing skills

• Good understanding of testing fundamentals

• Experience in unix or linux operating systems

• Able to work within a team setting and actively participate and collaborate in team discussions

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in front end development such as JavaScript, HTML, mobile, frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular

• Experience or interest in mobile technologies 

• Experience with Java programming development / Spring

• Experience with version control technology i.e. Git

• Experience in a Linux/Unix environment with strong coding background
