Senior Software Engineer

Cape is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build Cape's innovative enterprise AI platform. Cape software installs into the customer's own data center or VPC, and leverages local and public large language models and machine learning models to implement custom workflows. Cape helps businesses get real value out of today's generative AI capabilities.

Cape is a growing startup, and we are looking for team members in the New York metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software features
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Clarify and ensure the technical feasibility of product requirements
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
• Mentor less experienced team members
• Conduct thorough testing of your work, and participate in peer reviews within your team

Key Qualifications

• A great attitude, effective communication skills, and a strong sense of ownership
• BS in computer science or equivalent experience
• At least 10 years professional work experience building performant, user-friendly, reliable, distributed software systems
• Experience working on backend system services, such as databases, distributed systems, real time applications, etc.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code in Python
• Some experience working with machine learning and/or generative AI (LLM) models
• Experience developing both onsite enterprise software and cloud-based SaaS applications
• Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
