Job Description
We seek a talented Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer I to test software changes, minimize defects, and maximize user satisfaction. You will ensure the highest quality standards for our products through meticulous manual and automated testing. This role involves comprehensive testing of software products to identify bugs, ensure functionality, and increase user satisfaction. The SQA Engineer I leads manual and automated testing, identifies and documents issues, and contributes to the overall quality of the product.
Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance:
- Continuously evaluate and improve the SQA testing processes and strategies.
- Stay updated with the latest testing tools, methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Advocate for quality assurance best practices throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Ensure that all product quality aspects are met, including functionality, usability, and performance.
- Document and maintain detailed SQA processes to ensure consistency, replicability, and policy compliance.
- Ensure adherence to company software development methodologies and standards to ensure project success.
- Analyze bug reports and highlight critical issues that can impact product quality.
- Manual/Automated Testing:
- Work closely with the development team to understand product requirements and ensure they are met in the final product.
- Utilize risk-based analysis to plan test strategies in accordance with project scope and timelines.
- Review functional requirements and devise test cases, test scripts, and test plans for assigned web and mobile applications.
- Conduct thorough manual testing of software products to identify bugs, inconsistencies, and usability issues.
- Effectively document and communicate detailed test procedures and results for the software development and release processes.
- Develop, update, and run automated tests to ensure regression-free deliverables.
- Validate and test production server and architecture modifications for reliability and performance.
- Provide constructive feedback to the development team and assist in troubleshooting and resolving quality issues.
- Product Release:
- Assist in the decision-making process for product releases based on testing results.
- Ensure that all release criteria are met before the product launch.
- Monitor post-release feedback and coordinate with the team to address emerging quality issues.
- Explain fixes, enhancements, and new functionality with enough detail to support release notes, documentation, and training materials.
- Help facilitate any Alpha, Beta, or third-party testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience in Software Quality Assurance.
- 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance, product management, or a similar role within a technology or software development environment.
- Experience with software quality control methodologies and processes is essential.
- General computing knowledge of iOS, Android, and web applications.
- Basic proficiency in computer software troubleshooting and identifying technical issues.
- Exceptional attention to detail to identify issues in software quality and processes.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC), Git, and Agile methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to learning and growth.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to software engineers, management, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced technology environment, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Experience with SQL and database querying.
- Fluency in English is required, and Spanish language abilities are a plus.
This is a full-time remote position located in the US; however, it is preferred that the individual work in the Indianapolis, Indiana office. Preference may be given to those able to meet the onsite work location expectation. If local, the individual hired will work on-site according to a schedule set by management based on the requirements of their role.
Benefits & Compensation
- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $68,000-$78,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
- The AlignOps benefit program includes health, dental, and vision coverage. In addition, the company offers disability, life insurance, PTO, and a 401(k) plan.
