About Burnt
Burnt is building an agentic OS to replace legacy ERPs and automate how supply chain companies operate. We’re starting with the food industry—a $1T+ sector that’s been underserved by modern software—and building vertically integrated AI agents that take over the manual, repetitive work ERPs were supposed to solve.
Our first product replaces the entire order management team at food distribution companies. Instead of emails, texts, and voicemails being manually keyed into ERPs, our agent understands every customer’s habits, shorthand, and preferences—and turns messy inbound communication into structured, ERP-ready orders in seconds.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an entrepreneurial AI native engineer to join the founding team to help build our core suite of products. As our founding engineer, you'll have unprecedented influence in:
- Architecting our core AI agent system from the ground up
- Making critical technical decisions that will shape our product's future
- Building and leading our engineering team and culture
- Working directly with founders to shape product strategy
The Technical Challenges You'll Solve
- Design and implement autonomous AI agents that can understand and execute complex supply chain workflows
- Build reliable orchestration systems for LLM-powered applications
- Create scalable integration patterns with existing ERP systems
- Develop robust monitoring and safety systems for AI agents
- Architect cloud-native infrastructure ready for enterprise scale

Core Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Python and core data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn)
- 3+ years of frontend development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Proficient in modern frontend frameworks like React.js and Next.js
- Experience building real-time UIs using WebSockets and/or real-time databases
- Strong understanding of various database types: relational (SQL), document, columnar, key-value, and graph
- Proven experience building production-grade AI agents and workflow systems, including observability, evaluation frameworks, and memory management
- Skilled at optimizing small language models for scalability and accuracy
- Comfortable deploying across major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Deep understanding of AI safety, security, and compliance best practices
Bonus
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or a related field
- Strong machine learning foundation with a pulse on the latest in Generative AI
- Experience building frontend applications with Next.js
- Familiarity with Agile development practices and fast iteration cycles
- Natural leadership and clear communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and move fast
- Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex)
- Open-source contributions or personal ML/AI projects
- Experience scaling ML models in production environments
- Solid data engineering skills—pipelines, transformations, and infrastructure
- Understanding of GPU infrastructure and model optimization for performance

Salary Range Details
The compensation range for this position is set between $125,000 and $200,000, reflecting our market analysis and other relevant considerations. However, exceptions may be made for candidates with qualifications that significantly differ from those outlined in the job description.
