We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineers in Storage and Data Protection (SDP) in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) division.

You will be part of a tightly knit and fast paced team that will work in an agile environment. We focus on ease of deployment and solving key customer data protection and storage challenges. 

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will become part of a group of world class engineers, working together to build a better product - solving real issues for our customers, and doing that at the best quality possible.

You will be expected to:

• Get familiar with the relevant VMware products and services.

• Get to know the technologies and processes being used by the team

• Learn and apply new technologies, best design practices and usability patterns

• Contribute to product direction and design discussions

• Actively participate in all phases of software development including requirements, design, coding, unit testing, debugging and design/code reviews

• Become immersed in all aspects of our innovative and collaborative culture and ensure you get the full Broadcom experience

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Deliver features in the VMware Cloud Foundation product.

• Participate in all phases of the software development cycle as part of an agile team.

• Collaborate with the team to deliver high quality code with tests in place to prevent any regressions.

• Lead and participate in code reviews.

• Write design specifications and document your work.

• You have a  Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science or related degree.
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, with a minimum of 5+ years of professional experience.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, object/data modeling, and data structures.

• Advanced proficiency in Java programming.

• Extensive experience with multithreading, inter-process communication (IPC), socket programming, and signal handling.

• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for daily collaboration.

Additional Qualifications

• Proficiency in Linux-based systems and system-level programming is highly desirable.

• Hands-on experience with Python programming.

• Familiarity with UI frameworks such as Angular or similar is an advantage.
   

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

You will join a team with around 15 team members some of which have many years of expertise in this product area. You will also communicate with other close teams in the same product area here in Sofia, India, China, and the US.

Where is this role located?
This role is based in Sofia, Bulgaria, and requires working on-site at the office.
