vStorage APIs for Data Protection

VMware VADP is the next generation of VMware’s data protection framework that enables backup products to do centralized, efficient, off-host LAN free backup of vSphere virtual machines. Dozens of backup products from VMware partners are using VADP to backup vSphere virtual machines from a central backup server without requiring backup agents to be running inside each guest virtual machine on the ESX hosts. As part of VMware Cloud Native strategy, VADP plays as a cornerstone in data protection.

Light-Weight Delta

As the next generation of Data Protection, the Light-Weight Delta (LWD) provides a Non-Stun technology to achieve both high-speed data transport and high-reliable business continuity in workload virtual machines. Various data protection applications including PowerProtect Data Manager by DellEMC (PPDM), VMware Live Cyber Recovery (VLCR), and VMware vSAN DataProtection (vSAN DP) are leveraging LWD to keep the leading edge of technology with high-performance and high-quality data protection solutions for customers in both on-Prem and on-Demand environments.

Responsibilities

• Feature validation of data protection for storage architecture on vSphere.

• Ensure that features work seamlessly end-to-end and maintain product compatibility during vSphere upgrade and patch.

• Analysis of root cause of issues in product.

• Global collaboration with developing engineers to ensure software quality and stability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent disciplines. Master is preferred.

• 7+ years of hands-on test automation experience.

• Proficient in CICD pipeline, and skills in Jenkins.

• Proficient in Python and Java coding skills.

• Familiar with shell scripting and Ruby is a plus.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Strong problem analytical skills.

• Good at English in reading and writing.

• Basic knowledge of Linux/Windows systems and hands-on experience.

• Experience in data backup and restore technologies is a big plus.

• Experience in vSphere is preferred.
