Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division delivers cutting-edge on-prem software solutions. The mainframe has grown 350% over the past decade. 67 for the Fortune 100, 45 of the world’s top 50 banks, 8 of the top 10 insurers, 4 of the top 5 airlines and 7 of the 10 global retailers all rely on mainframes. Mainframes literally run the world’s economy. We are partnering with these enterprises to ensure their applications are DevSecOps enabled and have a superior developer experience.

We are looking for an experienced programmer to join our DevOps value-stream and work on the exciting new project driving product engineering excellence around the entirety of the Mainframe Software portfolio (develop, test, maintain and deploy) with the intent to drive a new, seamless experience of product integration; through working with and influencing multiple products and development organizations. The project will interact with global customers to validate requirements and ensure timely product delivery timelines are executed with precision.  Additionally, it is expected you can work alongside a very talented product management and architecture team to ensure selected product features will meet stated (or implied) customer demand. 

The ideal candidate will have deep IT knowledge and be able to skillfully navigate a large corporate environment.  Additionally, knowledge of the most recent pipeline tooling (Jenkins, Github, etc) and cloud and container-based architectures is a must. We are looking for an engineer who is highly motivated, team oriented and has excellent organization and problem-solving skills.

Your ability to adapt with changing priorities is an important strength.  The individual and team goal will be to maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering + 12+ years of experience is required
  • Experience in designing and development of software systems
  • Exceptional defect analyses, triaging and fixing skills
  • Demonstrates the use of strong interpersonal and social skills in individual and group settings

Key Skills:

  • Experience with Integrated Development Environments (IDE)
  • Experience with Git or other source code management tools
  • Experience building VS Code or other IDE Extensions
  • Experience with TypeScript / JavaScript
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest
  • Experience with Node.js
  • Experience with automated pipelines such as Jenkins
  • Experience with Java or equivalent object-oriented language
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat or other Http servlet environments
  • Knowledge of REST architecture
  • Knowledge of web programming concepts
  • Knowledge of UNIX
  • Knowledge of containers and cloud technologies

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Mainframe tools and utilities
  • Experience with Agile Methodology 

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and coding complex modules that meet functional and business requirements on schedule and within budget
  • Perform unit/module testing of software.
  • Participate in test plan reviews.
  • Constantly refine and stay current with emerging themes in software development and testing.
  • Provide product content to technical writers.
  • Assist in strategic research and design as directed
  • Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.
  • Interact with customers for support issues, demonstrations, and feedback sessions

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $127,000 - $203,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
