The PDS Sr Manager (Full Stack Engineering) will lead the development of enterprise-grade web applications that deliver AI-powered analytics and decision support tools to Global Product Development and Supply stakeholders.

This role combines technical leadership in modern full-stack development with people management responsibilities, overseeing a team of engineers building responsive, real-time user interfaces that consume autonomous agent outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

Full-Stack Application Development:
• Architect and develop production-grade web applications using React (Next.js preferred) with TypeScript
• Build responsive, accessible user interfaces for AI-powered analytics dashboards, chat interfaces, and visualization tools
• Design and implement backend services (Node.js/Express or Python FastAPI) supporting frontend applications
• Develop real-time streaming interfaces consuming Server-Sent Events (SSE) and WebSocket protocols from AI agents
• Implement state management solutions (Redux, Zustand, React Context) for complex application workflows
• Build reusable component libraries and design systems ensuring consistency across applications

AI Integration & User Experience:
• Design user interfaces for consuming agentic AI outputs including multi-step reasoning, tool calls, and dynamic widget generation
• Implement streaming chat interfaces with progressive response rendering and conversation history management
• Build visualization frameworks rendering charts, tables, and insights from AI-generated analytical outputs
• Develop error handling and loading states for asynchronous AI operations with graceful degradation
• Create intuitive UX patterns for human-in-the-loop workflows (user feedback, validation, corrections)
• Collaborate with AI platform engineers to define API contracts and data transformation requirements

Backend API Development & Integration:
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints serving frontend applications
• Build integration layers connecting frontends with AI orchestration platforms (FastAPI backends)
• Develop data transformation pipelines converting agent outputs into frontend-ready formats
• Implement caching strategies (Redis) and database operations (PostgreSQL) for application performance
• Create authentication and authorization flows integrating with enterprise systems (SSO, LDAP)
• Build middleware for logging, monitoring, and error handling across application stack

DevOps, Testing & Production Support:
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, building, and deployment of full-stack applications
• Develop comprehensive testing strategies (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright/Cypress for E2E)
• Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments with Kubernetes
• Monitor production applications with observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, CloudWatch)
• Optimize application performance (bundle size, lazy loading, code splitting, API response times)
• Ensure security best practices including input validation, XSS prevention, CSRF protection, and secure API design

People Management & Leadership:
• Lead and mentor a team of frontend and backend engineers, providing technical guidance and career development
• Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and create individual development plans for team members
• Facilitate agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and manage team delivery
• Foster a culture of code quality through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing
• Manage team capacity, workload distribution, and resource allocation across projects
• Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent for the team

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Partner with UX designers to translate wireframes and design systems into functional applications
• Collaborate with AI platform engineers to understand agent capabilities and define integration points
• Work with product managers to prioritize features, define requirements, and plan roadmaps
• Engage with business stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure applications meet user needs
• Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to enterprise-wide technical standards

Qualification & Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 9+ years of full-stack software engineering experience with 2+ years in people management or tech lead roles
• Expert-level React and TypeScript/JavaScript with modern frameworks (Next.js, SPA architectures)
• Proficiency in backend development: Python/FastAPI or Node.js/Express
• Production experience with state management (Redux, Zustand), RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL, and Redis
• Docker containerization, Git workflows, and cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Built production web applications with real-time interfaces (WebSocket, SSE) and data visualization (Recharts, D3.js, Plotly)

People Management & Leadership:
• 2+ years managing engineering teams (3-6 engineers) with experience conducting performance reviews and mentoring
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and sprint-based delivery

AI Application Understanding:
• Exposure to AI-powered applications or LLM-based user interfaces
• Understanding of streaming AI responses and conversational UI design (chat interfaces, message threading)
• Experience integrating with AI/ML APIs or data science platforms

Ideal Candidates Would Also Have:
• Next.js 13+ (App Router, Server Components), GraphQL, or WebSocket/SSE production implementation
• Python development experience (beneficial for AI platform backend integration)
• Experience in regulated industries (pharma, healthcare, finance) or global life sciences
• Experience managing globally distributed teams
