Software Engineer

Technology is at the centre of BP’s Group Strategy. We use our data and technology expertise, to improve efficiency, increase effectiveness and harness the transformational potential of digital technologies and new business models.

In this role You will:

• Be a full stack software engineer contributing, developing and maintaining the digital products in our LNG Energy Trading and Risk Management landscape
• Design sophisticated backend components, services, platforms, and Restful APIs for seamless communication with the front end
• Design front-end components and seamless integration with the back-end systems, facilitating smooth data exchange
• Continuously review the services and components and seek opportunities for improvements
• Identify and address Tech Debt
• Influence and delivering the product roadmap to improve our Key Performance Indicators and deliver tangible business value
• Develop the team’s Software Engineering skills
• Own the team’s culture and ways of working, instilling a care for high quality code and tests and for implementing best practices
• Carry out hands on development in React and C#

What You will need to be successful:

• Experience in IT industry with experience in designing, planning, implementing, maintaining, and documenting solutions.
• Proficiency in Software Engineering development techniques and best practices like TDD, BDD
• Strong Software Engineering Design capabilities and understanding of Computational Complexity
• Desire for excellence and continuous improvement in software architecture, software delivery and best practices
• Hands on experience in C# (.Net Core), React eco-system, TypeScript and Javascript
• Database design and knowledge of SQL Server experience
• Experience with DevOps: working with AWS, Azure DevOps, Openshift/Kubernetes is an advantage
