Let me tell you about the role:
We are now looking for the Senior Rig Engineer to join our bp-TSI team in Pune, India!
The Senior Rig Engineer will report directly to the Rig Engineering Team Lead and will be responsible for the oversight of repair, maintenance and optimization of rig equipment in collaboration with the Drilling Contractor, equipment suppliers and BP’s PSCM and the wider Rig Engineering network. This position will also cover rig & vessel intake accountabilities such as implementing the RISOP practice, rig verification action closure and ensuring on-time rig and vessel start-up.
The Senior Rig Engineer is the primary source of technical advice to the Wells Superintendents and Operations Manager. The Senior Rig Engineer will assess the processes and systems in place, and to collaborate with the drilling contractor and vendors on potential improvements.
What you will deliver:
Rig Engineering Responsibilities
Serve as a Technical advisor to drilling rig and equipment. Reference BP Practice 100276 (Management of Drilling, Completions & Interventions and Rig –specific CE(S) (critical equipment safety), 100160 (Accountability for Integrity of Drilling Rigs on BP-owned Assets), relevant industry and BP engineering technical practices.
Understands the principles of BP practice 32-20 (Inspection and Testing of In-Service Equipment)
Advise the Wells Superintendents, Wells Operations Manager on issues relating to technical integrity and regulatory compliance.
Track corrective work orders (CO) and preventative maintenance work orders(PM).
Monitor, coordinate and ensure scheduled preventive maintenance is compliant with timing and standards
Verify scheduled preventive maintenance and schedules to align with the business cost and production strategies.
Review all relevant Management of Change (MoC) relating to maintenance activities.
Identify, assess, communicate, mitigate and manage risk on maintenance activities.
Provide approval for maintenance purchasing materials
Provide technical advice to Materials Management when requested
Assist with budget preparation
Review costs related to maintenance activities
Interface closely with Vendors/Suppliers and Drilling Contractor to implement agreed solutions and optimizations.
Interface with other BP functions as per Interface Maintenance document.
Manage overhaul of equipment sent out with country for overhaul.
Participate in HAZID / HAZOP and technical assurance processes with the regional team.
Participate in Rig Verification and Incident Investigations in relation to compliance to rig maintenance standards.
Capture and dissemination of shared learnings
Rig & Vessel Intake Responsibilities
Support continuous improvement of the RISOP practice and embed lessons learned to improve bp’s process for rig intake.
Work with WSLs, Engineers and WSUPs in businesses to translate well operational requirements to Rig SOR requirements and RFP for rig capability, identify modification requirements and support rig selection choices.
Be informed by/participate in Technical Support Visits and Pre-Contract Rig Verifications to inform contract award and focus areas during RISOP/IRSP execution including the MURL.
Support the rig contracting and rig selection process.
Execute RISOP activities (MAR reviews, risk assessments, bridging documents, HAZOPs, third party surveys and installation, rig mods and upgrades, crew competency, Day 1 Procedure reviews, etc.) for assigned rig and vessel intakes working collaboratively with Rig and Vessel Intake Team expertise, wells organization SMEs and region teams to assure seamless rig and vessel startups.
Interface with drilling contractor, rig verification team and region WSUP and WSLs to coordinate rig verification requirements and execution and work with drilling contractor and bp teams to close Category 1 and 2A Milestone Based actions to facilitate timely rig or vessel startup
Participate in development of rig and vessel capability strategic objectives for Intelligent Automation, Emission Reduction, Integrated Services, etc. to deliver bps strategic purpose and aims.
What you will need to be successful:
Must have educational qualifications:
Technical / Engineering bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant technical subject
Minimum years of relevant experience:
Minimum of 10+ years’ experience of work in rig equipment environment and supervisory position
Must have experiences/skills:
Has in place a continuous professional development plan to expand own technical competence level.
Strong English skills, both written and spoken
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
