Purpose
Oversee the water engineering function of assigned business unit.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
- Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
- Provide oversight and direction of department or business unit including strategy, budgeting, staff, and deliverables.
- Serve as technical advisor by providing senior level input and evaluation on projects.
At the Operational and Company Level
- Responsible for business development activities for current and prospective clients.
- Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements.
- Act as advisor to engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations.
Do the Work
- Manage and oversee all teams and project in the water resources sector to ensure the work is executed on time, on budget, and in accordance with the client's requirements and company policies and procedures.
- Assist, as needed, in identifying new opportunities and developing new business with current and prospective clients.
- Assist, as needed, with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
- Assist with and lead project execution as needed.
- Train, mentor, develop and supervise engineering staff.
- Provide work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
- Develop and evaluate standardized criteria for project plans.
- Participate as needed in proposal development.
- Serve as liaison with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Research and collect outstanding monies due from clients.
- Keep current on engineering trends and developments to recommend changes in program or design methods.
- Responsible for quality assurance and quality control as well as P&L of the business unit.
- Strategic planning and business plan development to ensure that company goals are met.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline required.
- Master's degree in civil engineering or related discipline strongly preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) Registration required.
- Fifteen or more (15+) years of engineering experience in water and wastewater treatment to include project management; staff supervision, development, and mentoring; and client relationships.
- Experience with governmental agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in successful management of financial, marketing, human resources and operations aspects of an engineering business unit.

Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience. Range $140,000 - $160,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
- Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
- Mobility around an office environment.
- Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Partly outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
- Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
