About the Role

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you’ll help own the systems that power our core product. You’ll design and build scalable services, shape backend architecture, and help the team ship reliable, high-performance software. This is a hands-on role with real technical leadership — writing code, making key decisions, and raising the bar across the engineering org.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of backend services and APIs that support mission-critical product features
• Own architecture decisions around scalability, reliability, and performance
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and platform teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Build and maintain distributed systems, databases, and internal tooling
• Establish strong engineering practices around code quality, testing, observability, and deployment
• Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance and review
• Drive improvements in system performance, security, and infrastructure efficiency
• Help define backend technical strategy as the company scales

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with high-scale SaaS platforms, developer tools, and/or AI-driven products
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, Nodejs, and operating backend systems in production
• You’ve led technical projects end-to-end and enjoy taking ownership
• Strong understanding of APIs, databases, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure
• Comfortable balancing speed and quality in a fast-moving environment
• You write clean, maintainable code and care about long-term system health
• You enjoy mentoring teammates and setting a high engineering bar
• You thrive in collaborative teams where engineering and product work closely together
