About the Role:

At Boston Scientific, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your engineering skills while learning alongside diverse, high-performing teams working on some of healthcare’s most important challenges. As a Mechanical R&D Engineering Intern within the Interventional Oncology & Embolization (IO&E) division, you’ll support the development of a novel cryoablation platform and gain hands-on experience with mechanical design, thermodynamics, fluid systems, prototyping, testing, and data analysis. Working closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional partners, you’ll help design and execute experiments, investigate technical challenges, and translate engineering insights into product improvements. This internship offers the opportunity to apply engineering fundamentals to a complex medical device system while developing practical skills in product development, problem-solving, and medical device R&D.

Your Responsibilities will include:

• Use your problem-solving abilities to perform meaningful engineering work.

• Grow your skillset through a combination of training, hands-on experience, and mentorship.

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team.

• Get exposure to what it is like working in a Fortune 500 medical device company.
• Support prototyping, testing, and evaluation of new device concepts.
• Conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze results to inform design decisions.
• Document engineering activities and present findings to team members. 

Required Qualifications:

• Must graduate between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028
• Currently pursuing a bachelors or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
• Must be able to commit to one of the following full internship program periods: May 17th – August 6th OR May 24th – August 13th
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization

• Must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove, MN Boston Scientific Corporate location
• Must have experience with SolidWorks

 Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.

• Ability and passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions. 
• Knowledge of 3D printing and rapid prototyping technologies.
