Assist for test plan and test report creation and assist for manufacture and supplier communication of technical topic and design implementation in production line.

Job Description

Lead the development and implementation of innovative mechanical design solutions, ensuring compliance with quality, cost and safety standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize existing products and develop new ones, from conceptualization to production. Provide technical expertise in decision making and ensure the feasibility of proposed solutions. In addition, mentor less experienced associates, fostering their professional development and strengthening the capabilities of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Plan and manage design projects to meet deadlines and budgets, including the administration and management of deliverables for multiple tasks.
  • Prototype Development: Create and test prototypes for feasibility and functionality.
  • Requirements Analysis: Analyze and document customer requirements and standards.
  • Collaboration: Work with interdisciplinary teams to integrate design aspects.
  • Problem Solving: Address complex technical issues with effective solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation (SAP, PDM, PLM).
  • Product Optimization: Use tools like FMEA, DFMEA, DFA, DFM, and Six Sigma to improve products.
  • Design Review: Identify risks in designs and engineering changes before production.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure solutions meet regulations and standards.
  • Mentoring: Train and guide junior associates and team members.
  • CAD Models & Drawings: Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
  • Quality and Safety: Support product quality and safety per guidelines and standards (UL/CSA, IEC).
  • BOMs: Prepare Bills of Materials and technical data packages.
  • Change Requests: Manage Engineering Change Requests with customers and internal teams.
  • GD&T Analysis: Perform GD&T and 2D/3D stack-up analysis as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering and product development.
  • CAD Proficiency: Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks) and 2D drawing creation.
  • MBD and PMI Knowledge: Solid understanding of Model-Based Definition (MBD) and Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI), with a preference for NX.
  • Tolerance Analysis: Strong knowledge in 2D and 3D tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Additional Information

  • Hands-on experience with consumer cooking appliances or related products.
  • Knowledge of plastics design and mold-in-place best practices.
  • ASME / ISO GD&T certification or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with CAE simulation tools (FEA, CFD, etc.).
  • Proven problem-solving skills using structured methods (8D, Six Sigma, DOE).
  • Experience managing risk assessments (FMEA) and engineering change processes.
