Technical Program Manager - FinTech

Location: Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We’re the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the next morning. The friends you make. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the food you sample. Through our products, partners and people, we can empower everyone to experience the world.

We’re a truly global e-commerce company, with business operations in nearly every country and city on the planet. And we want to make it easy for everyone, anywhere in the world, to pay for their travel or do business with our platform – whenever and however it’s convenient for them.

Our FinTech business unit – with teams in Amsterdam, London, and Bangalore – develops new products and drives innovation to help us continue removing financial friction from the travel process. That makes buying and selling travel-related products and services simpler for both travelers and partners.

We are looking for a sharp, talented and energetic Technical Program Manager. As a FinTech TPM, you have the ability to deliver large cross-organizational software development projects at the intersection of e-commerce and payments. Building financial services is not easy, but you know what it takes to pull it off.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with project sponsors, project stakeholders to define and deliver projects

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints

  • Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels

  • Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders

  • Communicate project issues and status in a concise, accurate, and professional manner

  • Insatiable curiosity and ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of projects

  • Apply best practices to the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for projects based on experiences with a number of agile and blended approaches, as well as effectively coordinating the implementations across teams using very different approaches

  • Build and maintain integrated project schedules that account for internal/external dependencies, differing SDLC approaches and numerous constraints

  • Be the driving force that collaborates with business and technical teams across Booking to make sure your teams deliver world class solutions that are highly scalable, secure, and flexible - all the while maintaining a strong customer focus

Requirements:

  • ~5+ years of relevant work experience, including technical program management experience

  • Strong understanding of technology and ability to effectively communicate technical concepts.

  • The role requires at least a basic understanding of payments and/or FinTech products, and the requirements and processes of this domain.

  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.

  • Proven ability to use data-driven insights to address business challenges and solve problems.

  • Experience in visualising and managing Risks, Issues & Dependencies to enable delivery success

  • Experience in cross organization priority alignment to deliver program outcomes

  • Experience in ensuring effective delivery best practice is in place which aligns to agile delivery principles.

  • Experience in agile practices and tooling
