Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Brazil is seeking Senior Cabin Interiors Modifications Design Engineer, reporting to the Payloads Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager, working out of the São Jose dos Campos office.

The Senior Cabin Interiors Modifications Design Engineer will to join the Cabin Interiors Modifications Team.

Position Responsibilities:

•    Research airplane configurations as applicable to requested customer configuration change
•    Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
•    Coordination with internal Boeing Program Management external Airline / Modification customers
•    Coordination with internal Boeing Supplier Management external Suppliers
•    Coordination and teaming with other internal and external Engineering teams
•    Mentoring and training new engineers


Develop engineering design solutions with the use of CAD for modifications to aircraft cabin systems such as:


•    Modification to cabin layout by introducing new LOPA (Layout of Passenger Accommodation) and its associated changes such as Passenger Service Units (PSU), Emergency Equipment, etc. and evaluation of evacuation impacts.
•    Support to seats engineering/installation and associated impacts.
•    Installation of Galleys, monuments, lavatories, bins, liners and associated impacts on environment systems throughout the cabin to meet end customer requirements
•    Modification to the existing aircraft environmental systems such as air conditioning systems, water and waste
•    Installations and modification of fire extinguisher system, insulation
•    Introduction of new aircraft paint schemes (liveries) and emergency marking system
•    Installation/Modification of new OFCR (Overhead Flight Crew Rest) and OCRS (Overhead Crew Rest Station


Produce substantiation documents in order to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and operational requirements, including:


•    Flammability documentation
•    Design reports (egress, direct view, etc.)
•    Ground test plans and reports
•    Cabin walkthrough plans and reports
•    System Safety Analysis for interior components and systems


Compile engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including;


•    Service Bulletins / accomplishment instructions
•    Aircraft and component manual supplements

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

•    Must have a degree in Engineering
•    Must have existing rights to work in Brazil
•    In depth experience in software (CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
•    In depth experience with aircraft interiors mechanical/structural design engineering
•    Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language
•    Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA)

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

•    Desirable Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, with degrees in Aeronautical, Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
•    Knowledge and experience of aircraft interior reconfiguration programs and primary and secondary aircraft structures is preferable
•    Knowledge and experience of flight deck interior
•    Working knowledge of sheet metal forming/fabrication/machining, composite materials and fabrication process
•    Working knowledge of aircraft material and fastener selection, hole size types, sealants & finishing
•    Knowledge of FAA Regulations
•    Knowledge of Boeing 15.4 Certification Processes
•    Experience leading teams
•    Occasional travel may be required

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Brazil. Candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in Brazil. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
