Job Description Qualifications:

This position will be part of the organization that provides sustainment and modification support to the USAF (United States Air Force) to help maintain and sustain its fleet of Boeing E-4B aircraft.  This is an Mid-level or Senior Maintenance Pre-Planning Support Engineer with responsibility to lead the Pre-Planning Team and prepare the program for program depot maintenance (PDM) inductions. The PDM pre-planning team evaluates maintenance and modification requirements (e.g., task cards, service bulletins), researches support equipment, parts, materials, and tools, and develops planning and schedules to support aircraft maintenance and modifications in advance of induction. As team lead, this position will be responsible for handling and leading all aspects of pre-planning activities, managing and reporting pre-planning status and schedule, identifying and mitigating PDM risks, and serving as a communication focal point for the customer.   Furthermore, this engineer will provide training to junior engineers and analysts; and work closely with the USAF and Government customers to ensure the continued safe operation of the fleet. The position provides excellent development and growth for future program management or engineering leadership positions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multi-disciplined and cross geographical team to ensure customer contractual requirements are met

  • Prepares routine communications and presentation material for dissemination to internal and external customers.  Regularly interacts with Senior Leaders from both Boeing and the USAF

  • Develop Statements of Work and provide feedback into PDM Contract proposals and estimates.

  • Review task cards to identify scheduled requirements and parts removals, such as panels, flight controls, filters, Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), etc.

  • Research and validate parts, materials, support equipment and tools to support PDM

  • Provide lesson’s learned and improvement guidance to scheduled maintenance work packages. 

  • Interpret engineering drawings and standards

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective

  • Draft and review technical publication source data

  • Participate with the NCR (Non Conformances) support team in the identification and processing of LRU’s that need to be ordered to support projected Over and Above (O/A) activity based on lessons learned from previous PDM activity

  • Work with supplier management and external vendors to schedule and/or project the removal and arrival dates of parts that require overhaul.

  • Conducts research on sophisticated technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer.  

  • Analyzes information to evaluate reported discrepancies.  

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This Hybrid position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry AND 5 or more years’ of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (Ex:  PhD, Master’s + 3 or more years’ related work experience)?

  • Ability to travel 15% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Required Skill/experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

Typical Education & Experience:

Level 3:  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 4:  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-level (Level 3): $82,450 - 111,550

Senior (Level 4): $100,300 - 135,700
