Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software capability is seeking Ground Software Engineers (Mid-Level / Senior) in Huntington Beach, CA.  The selected candidate will work with the BR&T Payload Products & Technologies (PP&T) product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design, and development of an advanced space-based imaging sensor payloads. The position will involve creating software products for ground system mission processing.

The selected candidate will work with the PP&T product team on providing complete solutions, including systems engineering, optics design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, and electronics. The candidate will work with software product-line owner, program managers, and development leads to create common software products and tailor for use on a portfolio of customer-funded programs.

The successful candidate will work across programs to ensure software products are developed for commonality and tailored to meet mission need. The candidate will work with development leads for ground mission software to ensure engineering excellence and achieve program objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a software developer for ground mission data processing

  • Responsible for development and deployment of a microservice architecture to serve the mission

  • Responsible for developing software to interface with external entities and simulators via various middleware technologies

  • Responsible for developing geospatial visualizations of the mission

  • Responsible for transforming, processing, and storing of mission data

  • Drive ground software execution to deliver products on-cost and on-schedule to programs. 

  • Responsible for ground software security, safety, assurance, quality, and engineering excellence. 

  • Drive first time quality in all phases of software development lifecycle

This position is onsite. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required) ability to obtain post-start.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of experience with software development with C, C++, Java

  • 5+ years of experience in developing software in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and DevOps processes/tools

  • 3+ years of experience working on satellite ground/spacecraft systems

  • Experience working with system integration toolsets and methodologies (e.g. ETL, Autosys, Pub/Sub, JSON, RESTful Web Services)

  • Working knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • 3+ years of experience in database development using SQL

  • 3+ years of experience in Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)

  • Experience with Neptune C2 Software, Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE), Advanced Framework for Simulation, and/or Integration and Modeling (AFSIM)

  • Experience with new product development with small, agile teams on fast-paced, dynamic customer-funded programs

  • Experience with fault tolerant architectures and designs

  • Experience in software architecture, design, and modeling including UML or SysML

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination

P3 – Mid-level

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science, physics, or chemistry and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination

P4 – Senior

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science, physics, or chemistry and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination

Mid-Level / $112,200 – $151,800

Senior / $130,900 – $177,100
