Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is based in Bangalore, India and is engaged in the development of advanced aerospace and aviation technologies and software products.

We have an immediate opening for Experienced AWS Network Engineer - 24/7 Operations Team (Platform Engineering), part of the global Digital Aviation Solutions business unit. This position would report to Manager - Cloud Platform Development & Operations, Digital Aviation Solutions team in India, and work closely with stakeholders across the globe.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our network infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to ensure high availability, performance, and security. This role involves working in a rotating shift schedule to provide round-the-clock support and swiftly resolve network-related issues.

Position Responsibilities:

• Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Receives general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
• Interacts frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers. Represents the organization by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
• Mentors junior team members and provides guidance and solutions.
• Design, implement, and maintain network solutions using AWS networking services such as Amazon VPC, VPC Peering, AWS Transit Gateway, Route Tables, Security Groups and AWS Firewall.
• Able to work and efficiently optimize IP Address usage using Amazon VPC IP Address Manager (IPAM) solutions.
• Ability to setup, configure and troubleshoot services both Application Load Balancing and Network Load Balancing specific to AWS Elastic Load Balancer as well as Network Load Balancer
• Monitor network performance and health using AWS CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, and other monitoring tools.
• Manage network security measures including security groups, Network ACLs, and AWS WAF to protect against threats.
• Able to configure AWS Firewall along with setting up NAT and filtering rules.
• Ensure Secure access to applications using VPC Private Links and Private Endpoints.
• Enable access to various services using Route 53 configurations and optimize the usage.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline network configuration and management tasks using AWS CLI and Terraform.
• Able to effectively integrate AWS networking solutions into EKS and ECS based solutions.
• Optimize network architecture for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Work in a rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 network support and incident response.
• Quickly diagnose and resolve network-related incidents, escalating to senior engineers as necessary.
• Participate in on-call rotations and ensure timely resolution of network issues.
• Collaborate with other members of the operations team, developers, and stakeholders to design and implement network solutions that meet business requirements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members on AWS networking best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, processes, and best practices.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate team members and stakeholders on AWS networking services and best practices.
• Ensure that all network configurations comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Required relevant Bachelor or Master's Degree.
• Strong understanding of AWS networking services: Amazon VPC, AWS Transit Gateway, Elastic Load Balancing, and AWS Firewall.
• Proficiency in network protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
•  Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages such as AWS CLI, Terraform, or Python.
• Familiarity with monitoring and troubleshooting tools like AWS CloudWatch and VPC Flow Logs.
• Strong Understanding of various AWS resources and their networking requirements, both public and private.
• Familiarity with implementation of Network Security across AWS workloads.
• Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
• Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud network solutions.
• Kubernetes Certified Application Developer. (Nice to have)
• Experience with incident management and on-call rotations

Typical Education & Experience:

•  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 8 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.)
