Job Description Qualifications:

At Boeing, we are all innovators on a mission to connect, protect, explore and inspire. From the seabed to outer space, you’ll learn and grow, contributing to work that shapes the world. Find your future with us.

Join our exclusive Graduate Researcher Program (GRP) in Boeing Research & Technology during the summer of 2025 and you can build something better for yourself, for our customers and for the world. The intent of the Boeing Graduate Researcher program is to invite participants back for repeated work experience opportunities and offer a full-time position post PhD graduation.

Boeing Research & Technology is Boeing's global research and development team creating and implementing innovative technologies that make the impossible possible and enabling the future of aerospace. We are engineers, skilled scientists, thinkers, bold innovators and dreamers.

What is Graduate Researcher Program?

The GRP (Graduate Researcher Program) is a unique 10-12 week internship program designed specifically for students pursuing their PhD. GRP is a hybrid experience of real-world industry work experience combined with development programming that exposes students to Boeing, its products and services and its people.  GRP focuses on deeply connecting students to their team and Boeing through repeated work experience across multiple summers with the goal to ultimately offer a full-time position at the conclusion of academic studies if a mutual fit is achieved.

How GRP Works:

Upon application and selection, successful applicants are matched with an intern experience and team related to their area of expertise. The program aims to provide interns with a valuable opportunity to gain deeper experience at Boeing and with their assigned team, while also utilizing academic skills and expertise to help solve real-world industry challenges and opportunities.

In addition to industry work exposure, GRP students will attend GRP programming to extend their experience and knowledge at Boeing.  GRP programming includes:  mentorship in your field of study, weekly Featured Speaker Talks, a week-long in-person GRP Summit, participation in an Innovation Challenge, and other opportunities to interact and build a professional network with other GRP students, Boeing team members, and leadership.

Please note:  The work you do at Boeing can be related to your area of study, but will not contribute to the work in your PhD thesis.

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking students who will have completed their first year of study in their PhD program by July 2025 and are passionate about the aerospace industry and Boeing. GRP students excel at quickly adapting to their roles, analyzing complex problems, and developing innovative solutions. They thrive in collaborative team environments and possess excellent communication skills. Above all, they are driven to contribute to the success of their team, fellow GRP students, and Boeing.

This GRP position is with the BR&T Guidance, Navigation, Control & Autonomy team in Seattle, WA. The selected candidate will work with other Boeing engineers to address research and development challenges in the areas of guidance, navigation, flight controls, and autonomy. As these areas span a wide range of technologies, the particular assigned work will depend on the strengths and interests of the candidate as well as the most current programmatic needs and priorities.

With guidance from senior engineers, the candidate will perform R&D to mature technologies needed for areas such as advanced control system design and analysis methods and tools, dynamic system modeling and sim, estimation, uncertainty quantification, trajectory optimization, and technologies needed to enable increased automation and full autonomous operations. With guidance, the candidate is expected to have the ability to analyze and develop solutions to complex problems.

The work involves aspects from problem solving, design, coding / implementation, mathematical modeling and simulation, testing, and analysis. The candidate will carry out experiment design, testing, and results analysis as well as prepare reports and give presentations.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • We prioritize job seekers as our customers, unlike bigger job sites, by charging a small fee to provide them with curated access to the best companies and up-to-date jobs. This focus allows us to deliver a more personalized and effective job search experience.
    • Salaries for the engineering jobs on our site range from $100K-$200K. On average, senior engineer positions on our EchoJobs are about $160K.
    • The EchoJobs positions have been sourced and vetted from the top companies to work for in the US as a software engineer, including LinkedIn and other reputable job sites. We also have syndicated jobs from companies that have just raised funding, as well as those that have great unique products and culture. From all of these sources, our founder, Morgan, has also resourced the company's authenticity in terms of their website, public appearance, and more.
    • Yes, our users asked us for just this, so now our search filters allow you to search for your top jobs via location, as well as by onsite, remote, or both. Approximately 30% of our jobs are remote, so you’ve got the best options for you!
    • We have not yet implemented this option, but are considering doing so in the future. For the moment, you would need to cancel your subscription, and resubscribe when you wanted to come back.
    • We add new jobs to EchoJobs every day! We scan our sources for the newest jobs, verify them, and post them to EchoJobs within minutes. We add about 2,000-3,000 new jobs for you each day!
    • From starting your job search to getting hired, the entire job search process can take us software engineers anywhere between 3-6 months. However, at EchoJobs, we’re striving to shorten this duration by finding the best, newest jobs for you, so you can do less job searching, and more applying.
    • We’d recommend checking EchoJobs daily, as we add new jobs to the site each day. Additionally, if you got a chance to read our previous email on “what makes EchoJobs different from any other job search tools,” we also recommended that you set a job alert based on your job filters, so if you get emails on those new jobs, you could be checking more than once per day.
    • If you decide to continue with us after the 1-month trial, we definitely recommend this, as we all know it usually takes 3-6 months to find a quality job as a software engineer these days. So to best support you, we just adjusted our membership options at EchoJobs to monthly, 3 months, or 12 months (this option is more for passive job seekers looking a little bit for the future if they want to come back to work or make a job switch potentially. This lets you see what’s out there in case an even better fit job becomes available.)
    • EchoJobs is truly the only job site of its kind. We want to be THE spot for you to find the best job for you, and haven’t encountered any other company doing this. Other job sites are in niches besides software engineering or focus on a small portion of engineering jobs (like a specific coding language). In the words of Morgan, our founder, “I think what makes EchoJobs different is the amount of jobs, frequency that we add new jobs (we add 2,000-3,000 new jobs daily!), and the powerful search engines to find exactly the job you want more easily and efficiently. We can provide you with the most jobs that are vetted by us, we’ll continually find more new jobs for you, and we make it easier for you to apply and get hired.
