Vice President, Database Engineer

**POSITION SUMMARY:** The Vice President, Database Engineer plays a crucial role in the Database Development job family within the Engineering function at BNY. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex database solutions that support the organization's strategic pillars and principles. By leveraging expertise in software engineering, the role ensures the integrity, performance, and security of databases, aligning with BNY's focus on innovation, efficiency, and client service. The Database Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality database solutions that drive business success. **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Design and develop robust database systems by applying advanced knowledge of database architecture and engineering principles. - Ensure optimal database performance and scalability by conducting regular performance assessments and implementing necessary improvements. - Collaborate with software development teams to integrate database solutions seamlessly into applications, ensuring data integrity and security. - Lead initiatives to enhance database automation and streamline processes, supporting BNY's commitment to innovation and operational excellence. - Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior database engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. - Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive best practices in database engineering and maintain BNY's competitive edge. **EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:** - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Advanced certifications in database management or engineering are desirable. **EXPERIENCE:** Typically 5-9 years of experience **SKILLS:** - Proficiency in advanced database management and development techniques. - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design and implement innovative database solutions. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
