About this role

BlackRock’s US Wealth Advisory (USWA) business manages the firms relationships with US retail investors and financial advisors, representing a full suite of strategies from iShares ETFs, mutual funds, SMAs and Alternatives. USWA’s mandate is to deliver One BlackRock to its retail clients.

USWA is seeking a Western Divisional Director to effectively lead, coach, and develop a team of Market Leaders. This position will report to our National Sales Manager and be an integral part of the sales leadership team. The position will cover Minnesota, Colorado, and Washington.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maximize overall USWA revenue results across alpha, iShares and Alts
  • Deep sales coaching and sales capability-building through field-based co-travel
  • Lead talent management and development including the monitoring of sales activities, shaping territory business plans, sharing effective sales tactics and seeking ways to optimize sales processes  
  • Monthly reviews of performance to guide Market Leaders to differentiate, innovate, and excel
  • Coordinate firm-specific initiatives and collaborate effectively to further National Account relationship development, home office initiatives and thematic campaigns
  • Represent BlackRock in advisor and regional meetings, branch presentations, BlackRock-hosted events, hospitality functions, and industry conferences  
  • Foster high functioning teamwork across cross-functional groups, contributing meaningfully to strategy development, sales narratives, new initiatives, and special projects
  • Partner closely with other Divisional Directors for effective connectivity across field markets – including relationship coverage, segmentation, and product knowledge.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success and regard as a leader among industry peers and trusted resource to advisors
  • Extensive knowledge of industry trends, academic fundamentals, portfolio theory
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, particularly around time management and prioritization
  • Talented, bright and intuitive natural people leader who exudes confidence and competence when building high performing teams
  • Strategic thinker committed to collaboration and team function
  • Diplomacy, graciousness, humility, intellectual curiosity, motivation and commitment to excellence
  • Executive level verbal and written communication skills
  • BA/BS; Graduate coursework or degree preferable
  • NASD Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses required; Series 24 preferred
  • 12+ years relevant sales experience
  • Clean U-4


 

For Colorado only: The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $230,000.0. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
