Location: Carmel, IN
Employment Type: FullTime

About Bioscope.AI
Bioscope.AI is an early-stage precision medicine company redefining how concierge, functional, and longevity practices deliver care. By integrating whole-genome sequencing, multi-omic data, and AI-driven clinical intelligence, our platform gives practitioners unprecedented insight into patient health before disease strikes. We're building the infrastructure for the future of precision health, and we need founding builders ready to shape it.
The Opportunity
This is a role for a builder who wants to own the platform layer Bioscope runs on: our cloud infrastructure, account and user management, the authentication and authorization that control access to patient data, the automated billing systems, and the pipelines that keep it all shipping smoothly. You'll work directly with our infrastructure lead and share ownership of all of it: building these systems, running them in production, and improving them over time.
The work is broad and often complex. In a given week you might speed up a slow deploy pipeline, set up nightly smoke tests in the cloud, add an express shipping option for practices ordering whole-genome sequencing kits, and figure out why one of our AI features keeps missing its prompt cache. We want someone who pays close attention to detail, works carefully, and is pragmatic about tradeoffs.
The team usually works from our Carmel office two to three days a week, so we're looking for someone who lives in the Indianapolis area or within a reasonable commute.
What You'll Do
Own the Infrastructure: Build and maintain our cloud infrastructure as code, mostly in AWS, and keep an eye on cost, security, compliance, and reliability.
Run the Core Platform: Maintain the systems behind practice accounts, their users, and how they log in, along with billing for our subscriptions and lab tests. Debug what breaks and extend them as the product grows.
Keep the Team Shipping: Maintain our CI/CD pipelines so engineers can test and deploy with confidence. Fix the tooling that slows people down.
Improve Our AI Tooling: We lean heavily on AI coding agents. You'll build, maintain, and improve the tooling around them.
Protect Patient Data: We handle PHI. You'll design access controls, secrets handling, and logging with HIPAA in mind and help keep us audit-ready.
Own Problems End to End: When a customer reports a bug, you triage it, fix it, test it, ship it to production, and follow up with the customer. You also review platform changes and cover for the infrastructure lead when they're out.
Pitch In on Product: Help ship product features when the team needs it, especially where they touch the platform.
What We Look For
Ownership and Follow-Through: You own what you build: you design it, ship it, run it, and keep improving it. You follow through without needing reminders, and you'd rather understand why something broke than patch over it.
Infrastructure Experience: You've run production infrastructure in AWS or another cloud and managed it with infrastructure as code tooling, ideally OpenTofu or Terraform.
Careful Execution: You know how to change production systems without breaking them and feel confident in doing so.
Strong Engineering Fundamentals: You understand networking, IAM, and how to debug a distributed system.
Full-Stack Range: You're comfortable working beyond infrastructure, especially in backend services, and can pitch in on the frontend.
AI Fluency: You use AI coding tools every day, or you're eager to learn to use them well.
Clear Communication: You can explain technical tradeoffs and keep people informed, especially while an incident is ongoing.
Nice to Haves
Experience with Python, TypeScript, and React; Go is a bonus.
Experience running workloads on AWS, from serverless services like Lambda and DynamoDB to containers on ECS and Batch.
Experience with CI/CD (ideally GitHub Actions) and site reliability practices like SLOs, monitoring, and incident response.
Experience with Auth0 or another identity provider, and with OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
Experience with Stripe billing and subscriptions.
Experience building with large language models from different providers.
Experience in a HIPAA-regulated environment and an interest in healthtech, genomics, or precision medicine.
What We Offer
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience.
Meaningful early-stage equity; you are a true owner.
Direct, unfiltered access to leadership and a front-row seat to company building.
Health, dental, and vision benefits.
A highly flexible, non-traditional work environment with incredible autonomy.
