Job description

Beyond (formerly Beyond Pricing) is hiring a Engineering Manager — a full-time, remote role. Apply directly on Beyond (formerly Beyond Pricing)'s careers page below.

Manager, Engineering

Location: Remote - Spain

Department: Engineering

Beyond powers the business of short-term rentals with a best-in-class Revenue Management System used by thousands of property managers and owners around the world. We’re profitable, growing fast, and building with the latest technologies—including AI—to help our customers unlock more revenue with less effort. Behind our product is a global team of 180+ Beyonders who bring curiosity, craft, and care to everything we do. We believe people are the most important part of any business, starting with ours.

It is with that in mind that Beyond is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our growing team. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cohesive team of talented engineers building the next evolution of our products. You are a technical engineering leader: you stay close to the code, strengthen CI/CD and operational practices, use AI tooling as a force multiplier, contribute to architectural decisions, run thoughtful code reviews, and step in when the team needs another set of hands. You also coach and mentor engineers at every level, helping them grow into stronger technologists who connect technical choices to customer and business outcomes. By organizing the team well, raising the technical bar, and driving empowerment with accountability.

Beyond is passionate about diversity and cultivating our team’s potential. If you’re hungry for a good opportunity, but don't meet every point in this job description, please apply anyway!

Our engineering team believes in:

  • Reducing scope - Less really is more. We break work into smaller, must-have chunks and say “no” to nice-to-haves so we can ship sooner;
  • Shipping early - We get a working version in front of users fast. Real feedback beats internal polish;
  • Iterating and improving - Each release is a stepping stone. We learn from data and feedback, and adapt instead of clinging to the original plan;
  • Taking ownership - We own our code end-to-end, from delivery to production to incidents, and we communicate openly about blockers, trade-offs, and follow-ups;
  • Driving revenue - We prioritize work that moves the needle on acquisition, retention, and customer experience, and we measure the impact.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Running a continuous weekly 1:1 practice, removing blockers, and mentoring a team of engineers on both technical craft and career growth
  • Establishing career growth objectives, leveling expectations, and providing continuous, specific feedback for every engineer on the team
  • Reviewing code, design documents, tests, and CI/CD changes regularly, raising the bar on quality, simplicity, delivery speed, observability, and long-term maintainability
  • Backing up the team in the trenches: pairing on hard problems, jumping into incidents, debugging production issues, writing code, and helping engineers use AI tools responsibly when they improve quality or speed
  • Driving architectural, tooling, and technical roadmap decisions that improve business outcomes, delivery speed, reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Collaborating with product, design, and customer-facing teams to connect technical work to revenue, retention, customer experience, and operational efficiency
  • Planning, managing, and allocating engineering capacity against quarterly OKRs, using business impact, operational risk, and your own understanding of the system to guide trade-offs
  • Championing and improving Beyond’s engineering practices such as trunk-based development, CI/CD, risk-based testing, feature flags, observability, pairing, code reviews, and collective code ownership
  • Contributing to new products and projects while supporting and maintaining the existing code base, as needed
  • Facilitating conversations with external stakeholders
  • Contributing to the code base 50% and managing a team 50%

So what kind of person are we looking for in this role? The person who will be successful in this role will be:

  • Technically strong and hands-on, with deep engineering experience and the credibility to engage in technical challenges, architectural decisions, CI/CD-driven engineering practices, AI-assisted development workflows, and code reviews. You can pick up unfamiliar code, debug a tricky issue, and back up your team when it matters, not just manage the people doing the work
    • A mentor and coach, who drives results by catalyzing growth in engineers from junior to senior, empowering others, giving candid feedback, and leading by example rolling up your sleeves
    • A good communicator, who listens carefully and shares information clearly with engineers, peers, and stakeholders, including translating between technical and non-technical audiences
    • Result-oriented, pragmatic, and data-driven, with a people-centered and systems thinking approach that ties technical choices to revenue, retention, customer experience, and operational efficiency

Now that we’ve told you what the job looks like, here are the qualifications we're looking for in a candidate:

  • 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience shipping and operating products in production
  • 5+ years of engineering management experience in a startup, distributed environment, including hiring, growing, and retaining engineers with 8 to 10 direct reports
  • Comfortable reading, reviewing, and writing code in your team’s stack, and willing to keep doing so as a manager
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted engineering tools as a force multiplier while preserving strong engineering judgment, security, and code quality, for both engineers and coding agents
  • A track record of improving team performance with CI/CD, risk-based testing, observability, execution planning, tracking, and data-based reporting
  • A track record of improving team performance with CI/CD, risk-based testing, observability, execution planning, tracking, and data-based reporting
  • Fluency in English
