Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description:

General Responsibilities:

Based out of our Shenzhen, China office, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing electrical design activities of our JDM/ODM/OEM suppliers. You will be engaged in projects from Concept to Production Phase, working side-by-side with adjacent Belkin’s cross-functional team members to complete deliverables On-time, On-cost, and On-quality. You will be working on various of consumer electronic with focus on power products, such as CLA chargers, Wall chargers, Power Bank, Wireless Charger…etc.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Review PRDs and ensure all technical requirements are accurately documented
• Communicate clear technical requirements to ODM suppliers
• Review the ODM design including the schematic Layout, BOM, and specification and confirm compliance to PRD.
• Test samples and validate performance against Product Specification
• Perform process audit and system audit for OEM/ODM and critical component suppliers such as PCB, PCBA, IC, transformer
• Lead Failure Analysis and Corrective Action for any EE design, process, and component issues and implement preventive measures

• Proactively seeks for cost and process optimization opportunities, propose design, component, process changes
• Validate changes through product level functional testing
  • Collaborate with Quality team to validate reliability, regulatory, and sustainability compliance
  • Review ODM design change requests in the forms of schematic, PCB layout, BOM, and specifications
  • Conduct in-depth PCBA level DFM & DFA studies
  • Conduct manufacturing flow-chart review with special focus on in-line and burn-in test setup
• Manage Electrical BOM and ECO updates through the use of Agile (PLM)
  • Support product builds for DVT and PVT all the way to formal implementation
  • Participate in supplier qualification and audit
  • Assist with documentation modification, including product specifications, work instructions, test plans and other documented attributes of the product. 
• Frequent travel to Southern China area required
• Occasional travel to south east Asia countries required
• Occasional travel to US required
• Other assignment to the employ from the management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
• 8+ years related work experience in power supply design, be family with various solutions and know well on the benefit/weakness of each design.
• Consumer electronics design experience preferred
• Power supply, analog, and digital design experience
• MFi experience highly desired (Made For iOS devices)
• Power Delivery (PD) experience
• Qualcomm Quick Charge experience
• Power and Thermal management knowledge
• Understanding of EMI/EMC design principles and design products for compliance with agency approvals (FCC, UL, USB, MFi, etc.)
• Design for safety and understanding of UL requirements
• Good problem-solving skills especially in relation to trouble shooting thermal, EMC, signal integrity, and safety issues.
• Strong data analysis skills, arriving at root cause and resolutions through robust data formulation
• Advanced Schematic and PCB layout experience, Altium Designer experience preferred
• Strong knowledge in PCB & PCBA manufacturing processes

• Hands on experience in a fast paced and high quality manufacturing environment with a good working understanding of high volume manufacturing process is preferred.
• Knowledge in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP - gage R&R, FAI, cpk, control plan)
• Ability to manage new and unique situations with minimal supervision

• Experience in working with cross-functional teams managing multiple projects concurrently
• Strong planning, scheduling, and presentation skills
• Experience in working with global teams, especially working with US counterparts, highly desired
• Strong verbal and written English skills
• Effective communication through well-organized reports
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint experience a must
