Using our deep knowledge and broader capability, we collaborate with our clients through city and regional offices operating in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle, Tamworth, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Combining the capability of our expert water specialists with access to more than 4000 multi-disciplinary specialists we can bring the best of Beca to our clients. With our purpose – to make everyday better, and our four values – partnership, tenacity, enjoyment and care – sitting at the heart of everything we do, we can truly realise our vision of ‘Creative people together transforming our world’.

The Opportunity

While water is the world’s most precious resource, at BecaHunterH2O, our people are our most precious resource. We are passionate about what we do and the culture we have developed. The more diverse we are, the better our ideas, strategies and client solutions will be.

We are looking for a Structural Designer/Drafter to join our current group of passionate engineers, designers and project managers. This role will be Newcastle based.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and manage project models and drawing sets in line with the BIM Execution Plan, naming conventions, coordinates, and worksets.

  • Develop and maintain Revit families/AutoCAD blocks and standard details.

  • Produce reinforcement detailing and schedules (bar bending lists) for walls, slabs, tanks, and associated structural components.

  • Detail construction and movement joints, penetrations, and waterproofing elements to meet durability and leakage performance.

  • Coordinate interfaces with civil, geotechnical, mechanical and architectural disciplines; participate in model reviews.

  • Prepare concept, tender and construction deliverables (GA plans, sections, details, notes) and manage revisions, transmittals, and document control in the common data environment (e.g. ACC).

  • Assist with quantity take‑offs from models/drawings and support buildability reviews.

  • Support design verification and QA/QC: check prints, red pen mark ups, self‑checks, peer reviews, and maintain drafting checklists.

  • Provide construction‑phase support: respond to RFIs, issue mark‑ups/sketches, and produce as‑built/record drawings.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement: maintain templates and standards, capture lessons learned, and mentor junior drafters.
