Mechanical & Piping Engineer
Team: Project & Engineering - Current Opportunities
Location: Salisbury, QLD
Commitment: Full-time
Workplace Type: onsite
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an opportunity for a hands-on Mechanical & Piping Engineer to join our team.
You won't be trapped in a soulless engineering office staring at a screen for weeks or drowning in corporate paperwork. You’ll be working between the design office and the factory floor — taking point-cloud data and 3D piping models to fully-engineered products that are manufactured on the shop floor the next day.
Beaver Process Equipment is an established Australian company that designs and manufactures high-performance slurry piping systems for mining operations globally. You will joining 6 engineers at our Salisbury manufacturing plant that work across design, pre-production, design-for-manufacture, quality, process improvement, capital projects, and manufacturing engineering. You will be solving real practical challenges and driving technical rigor across our premium product range. This role will grow into a senior engineering role with multiple progression pathways.
THE ROLE
This is a hands-on engineering role that works from the design office to the manufacturing shop floor.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Piping System Design: Lead end-to-end slurry piping system design and optimisation for our SlurryIQ program. Ensure piping code compliance (typically AS4041, ASME B31.3 / B31.4), including pipe stress analysis and pipe support requirements.
- Design-for-Manufacture: Translate product designs into manufacturing-ready shop drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and quality ITPs. Optimize designs for manufacturing efficiency.
- Pre-Production Engineering: Ensure code compliance, manufacturability, and engineering verification for all products before they hit the shop floor. Design specialised tooling, jigs, fixtures, and test rigs to support manufacturing.
- Application Engineering: Review client specifications, drawings, and 3D point clouds to resolve complex application requirements. Work closely with our product specialists to match their practical experience with your engineering smarts.
- New Product Development: Lead design verification and product upgrades across our proprietary manufactured product lines (Slurryflex, Abrasiguard, Defender), coordinating factory testing and qualification.
- Engineering Automation: Build and expand automated calculation tools, design templates, and parametric CAD models to link 3D piping models and product designs directly into ERP workflows.
- Shop-Floor Engineering Support: Troubleshoot real-time technical design and fabrication challenges on the floor to keep manufacturing moving fast.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a practical, hands-on mechanical engineer who loves designing and making things. You like to come to work in steel caps, and are happiest working between the design office and the shop floor, seeing your CAD designs being made into products every day.
Character Traits:
- Maker Mindset: You prefer the workshop to an ivory tower. You love getting your hands dirty, solving practical engineering problems, and seeing your designs getting made on the shop floor.
- 100% Ownership: You are capable of first-principles thinking and take pride in getting it right. You own the engineering from initial concept right through to final dispatch.
- Practical Problem-Solver: Decisive, energetic, and focused on getting things done. You move seamlessly between 3D design and the shop floor without over-complicating things.
- Believer in Digital Automation: You hate repetitive manual work. You proactively find ways to automate design and engineering work, leveraging software and tools to make the job easier.
- High Care Factor: Team first, zero ego, and straight-talking. You step up to help teammates, explain and teach, and lead by example.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Track Record: 5–8 years of mechanical engineering experience within a product OEM, fabrication, or piping engineering environment.
- Piping Design & Engineering: Piping design experience, including piping design code compliance (typically AS4041, ASME B31.3 / B31.4), plus stress analysis and pipe support requirements.
- Design Software: Strong hands-on CAD proficiency, including 3D piping modelling and 3D parametric design (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
- Design-For-Manufacture: Extra points for experience turning product designs into shop drawings, BOMs, and work instructions for manufacturing.
- Fabrication & Coating: Extra points for knowledge of piping fabrication, welding, and surface treatment standards.
WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY?
This is a key engineering role with serious impact and a clear growth path.
- Design Office To Shop Floor: See the product you designed yesterday being manufactured on the shop floor today.

- Product Development Scope: Lead upgrades and new product designs across our range, turning concepts into proven, physically tested products that out-perform.
- Digital Engineering Roadmap: Play a key role in building a world-class digital engineering tech stack, that takes data seamlessly from pointcloud to 3D model to parametric design, then onto the shop floor for manufacturing and out into the field.
- No-BS Culture: Join a founder-led business with a flat structure, rapid decision-making, and zero corporate bureaucracy or red tape.
- Australian Success Story: Be part of an established Australian success story executing a long-term global expansion strategy.
