JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Chemical Engineer to join our Global Crop Protection Innovation (CPI) Vapi team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and technical transfer of Bayer’s Crop protection products from early phase process development to technology transfer in the Pilot plant or commercial plants. The successful applicant will join an international and cross-divisional project team.
 
Leveraging your expertise in Chemical Engineering you will ensure that the safe scalable economical and sustainable process. The job holders ensure all the experimental work is done following the highest safety standards and document the generated data in the standard format. 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Screen and evaluate chemical literature and patents to secure competitiveness
  • Design and implement experimental modelling and engineering techniques to develop safe, robust, and cost-effective processes to manufacture Crop Protection Agents
  • Analyze  unit operation data as per engineering data sheet guidelines to recommend the right technology for unit operations
  • Study the existing or newly developed batch process and check the feasibility of converting them into a continuous process   
  • Lead in the design, planning, troubleshooting and execution of multi-step experimental studies guided by risk assessment to deliver safe, efficient, robust manufacturing processes.
  • Apply engineering principles and statistical analysis, including the design of experiments, to solve process issues and evaluate opportunities for process improvements.
  • Prepare  SOPs, and other relevant documents (e.g. Technical Reports, Presentations, SMZ, Technology Dossier).
  • Transfer new processes to the pilot plant (scale-up) and handover to AI manufacturing plants or tolling partners
  • Develop self and others

WHO YOU ARE:

  • B.Tech/M.Tech/Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from a reputed Indian Indian or international institute
  • Experience in process scale-up and technology transfer from laboratory to pilot and/or manufacturing scale and must have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities 
  • Experience in developing and commercialization of the continuous process 
  • Experience building and applying first-principal models (e.g., reaction kinetics, mass transfer, distillations, crystallization, filtration, drying, ) with proficiency across several modelling platforms
  • Prior experience working with Process Analytical Technologies (PAT), DSC, ARC, Calorimetry for process understanding and process control is desirable 
  • High assertiveness, enjoy working in a team and the ability to guide and develop employees
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment to achieve results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, effectively plan and follow through on complex projects in a multi-disciplinary international team
  • Ability to effectively challenge the status quo and underlying assumptions to discover innovations, and the ability to turn ideas into results
