Technical Packaging Engineering Manager- Myerstown, PA

 

The Technical Packaging Engineering Manager is part of the Organization for Packaging engineering and technology (DPX). This position is embedded into the Center of Excellence and interacts with internal and external stakeholders to create, design, and develop packaging structures for complex projects focused on new product launches, product transfers and business protection activities. Packaging that is safe, effective, and compliant. Business solutions that are smart, efficient, and operational. Consumer experiences that are ownable, intuitive, and engaging      

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Establish and Own the Packaging processes of CoE, driving faster work cycles and continual improvement;
  • Act as technical gate keeper to steer packaging collaborations in CoE cohesive to company strategic needs, and adherence to requirements;
  • Business protection & maintenance activities including: Identification and development of packaging concepts on time, in full delivery of project success factors;
  • Creation of meaningful improvements and cost savings projects;
  • Effective technical transfer of information to the factory / CMO plans and implements the development of packaging initiatives, such as local NPDs and product transfers;
  •  Facilitates the resolution of problems during the development process to meet customers’ needs and provides guidance to continuously improve processes;
  • Focus on primary packaging (per galenical form expertise in CoE), act as the key technical lead via researching, identifying and evaluating new package materials and equipment to ensure manufacturing operations are functional and cost efficient;
  • Supports internal and external manufacturing sites as required and drives the development and approval of new technology implementation to assure packaging solutions meet global and local regulations;
  • Identifies and develops key external partnerships (in collaboration with Procurement) to ensure best fit to project needs, strategic cost savings strategy/pipeline, innovative supplier selection, and cost budget targets.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree ;
  • A proven track record in managing packaging development, including the creation, development & delivery of new packaging and business protection & maintenance of launched packaging, ensuring efficient production and best in class quality in the supply chain;
  • Dealing with ambiguity, Business Acumen, Conflict management, Organizational agility & perspective, Problem solving, Drive for results;
  • Communication skills, Project planning, Packaging manufacturing/PS principles, Finance, Analytics;
  • Effective communication in English, every other language as an asset.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree;
  • 5 years of experience with a Master’s Degree;
  • Consumer healthcare or FMCG experience is an advantage.
