Director, Lead Data Specialist - Health Systems
PURPOSE
The Director, Lead Data Specialist-Health Systems is a member of Bayer’s growing Commercial Data Solutions team supporting US Product & Pipeline and Customer Engagement team within our commercial organization. Through rigorous analysis of rich commercial data, he/she will enable leaders within Product, Insights & Analytics, and Customer teams to make informed business decisions and help quantify value through data. This Data Partner/Specialist will collaborate with the cross-functional teams to uncover and drive data opportunities and to enable strategic decision-making.
The position has the primary ownership of data and has the responsibility of end-to-end data management for all the business-critical hospital/health system specific data assets and integration of those data assets by the Product Team. This Data Specialist is responsible for working closely with mission teams in developing a data strategy and build data management capabilities, which includes identifying the emerging data sources, manage data quality, and governance to enable data to driven business insights. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Understanding stakeholders’ key objectives, needs, and challenges
- Extracting valuable and actionable insights from datasets; identifying emerging trends
- Designing compelling stories within data that facilitate stakeholder decision-making
- Proactively anticipating stakeholders’ needs
- Continuously looking for ways to measure and demonstrate the business value.
- Ensuring the data integrity is intact and trusted
The position serves as a data leader coordinating across team of data specialists and works closely in collaboration with Customer Business Insights team as the central point of contact for key data questions in support of Integrated Health Systems (IHS).
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilties of this role, Director, Lead Data Specialist - Health Systems, are to:
- Act as a subject matter expert on hospital/health system-specific data assets, ensuring comprehensive understanding and utilization across teams;
- Drive data strategy and enablement in collaboration with the HS Customer, Strategy and Insights Leads, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and driving effective use of data;
- Create and enhance data products at the Integrated Delivery Network (IDN), hospital, and account levels to facilitate targeted sales efforts and performance measurement;
- Ensure the integrity and quality of data, including maintaining accurate affiliations and hierarchies;
- Design and implement data & reporting capabilities that support the Institutional Sales team, Regional Account teams, and National HS Directors, enabling informed decision-making;
- Collaborate with the Insights Lead to establish KPIs and metrics for Health Systems;
- Identify and explore innovative data solutions, develop business cases, and secure stakeholder buy-in for new capabilities;
- Collaborate with customer insight leads to formulate a comprehensive data strategy that addresses critical business questions, guiding related analytics and reporting efforts;
- Enable data driven culture with ease of access and usage; establish governance and implement best practices in data management to uphold data integrity;
- Integrate and analyze data from various sources across key commercial functions—including sales, syndicated claims, marketing, patient services, and market access—to uncover patterns, segmentation, trends, root causes, and growth opportunities;
- Design and implement a robust data quality framework, establishing Key Data Elements (KDEs) measures that are consistent across franchises, in close collaboration with Business and Insights lead;
- Establish processes and service level agreements (SLAs) with third-party data vendors to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of data;
- Champion and educate on the appropriate sources and use of data to meet both business objectives and compliance requirements;
- The primary location for this role is Whippany, NJ.

WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree;
- Extensive experience with/knowledge of technology led business strategy transformation;
- Proven leadership experience in the pharmaceutical and/or health tech industries, with a strong understanding of analytics methodologies, including descriptive and predictive analytics;
- Hands-on experience in hospital specific data assets (e.g., HS operational data, EHR, CDM, Mx/Rx claims data);
- In-depth knowledge of hospitals and health systems, including financial, quality, and affiliation metrics;
- Ability to work collaboratively with EHR partners to integrate new data assets effectively;
- Experience developing master data affiliation & hierarchy for IDN, hospital and accounts;
- Understanding of logistics & distribution processes and Specialty Pharmacy data;
- Commercial pharma data experience working with marketing, sales, SP/SD data, syndicated claims data assets;
- Strong ability to interpret data narratives and translate complex technical concepts into clear, impactful insights and actionable recommendations;
- Proven expertise in designing, building, and managing data quality frameworks for HS data assets;
- Excellent influencing and networking skills paired with stakeholder management experience in a multi-layered matrix organization;
- Knowledge of cloud-based, big data technologies;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive collaborative projects to successful outcomes;
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MBA or Master's Degree;
- 12+ years’ experience with extensive knowledge of technology led business strategy transformation.
