Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.

You will be involved in design, build, and own scalable, cloud-native data platforms and pipelines that enable reliable, secure, and high-performance data processing for analytics, reporting, and advanced use cases. Ensure data is trustworthy, well-governed, and readily accessible across the enterprise.

To be a successful as Engineer - PySpark/SQL, you should have experience with:

  • Develop, and optimize batch and real-time data pipelines using Python, AWS (Glue, Athena), and Databricks.
  • Ensure high data quality, reliability, and observability through robust validation, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
  • Design and implement modern data lake / lakehouse architectures on AWS, ensuring scalability, cost efficiency, and performance.
  • Manage structured and semi-structured data across varying volumes, velocity, and formats.
  • Develop optimized data models (dimensional, normalized, curated layers) to support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Drive best practices for partitioning, indexing, and query performance tuning.
  • Establish and enforce coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices for data engineering.
  • Automate workflows using orchestration tools and scripting (Unix/Shell).
  • Agile Delivery & Stakeholder Alignment.
  • Drive delivery using Agile/Scrum methodologies, managing backlog via Jira.
  • Collaborate with business and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Primary Skills: Python, SQL & performance tuning, AWS (Glue, Athena, S3, IAM), Databricks (Spark, Lakehouse architecture).
  • Secondary Skills: Agile/Scrum, Jira, Unix/Shell scripting,Data modelling.
  • Ensure data solutions comply with security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement controls for data lineage, access management, and auditability.
  • Proactively identify risks and enforce mitigation through engineering best practices.
