Job Description:
This job is responsible for leading the most complex technical designs that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Key responsibilities include facilitating deployment of the most complex technical solutions by developing templates, playbooks and automation used during implementation. The Operational Intelligence team within Consumer Technology consists of high performing engineers who deliver technology solutions to improve our huge Splunk environment. We are looking for a Splunk Architect with a strong engineering background, who can help drive our Splunk platform to be best of breed.

The right candidate will join our Splunk Engineering Team as an individual contributor and will be responsible for managing, expanding, upgrading, automating, and improving performance and sustainability for our huge Splunk environment as a hands-on engineer/architect. The candidate will drive implementation using Lean Agile methodology.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
  • Develops software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes and contributes to the technology strategy for end-to-end engineering solutions and provides feedback to the architecture teams
  • Translates business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policies
  • Participates in various steering committees for technical and infrastructure service domains
  • Leads the evaluation of reference models, blueprints and playbooks to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Mentors and guides team members to ensure system design technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards
  • Creates an inclusive and healthy working environment and help to resolve organizational impediments/blockers

Additional Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be responsible for Splunk system architecture, data analytics, performance management, automation and some administration, for the Splunk deployments we manage across the enterprise. Good communication skills are needed to interact with technology and business groups, to gather requirements and deliver the solution.
  • Develop and maintain automation tools for CI/CD workflows using Terraform, OpenShift, Bitbucket, and other tools.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate automation tools into the software development lifecycle.
  • Design and implement automation frameworks and processes to optimize software testing and deployment.
  • Work with infrastructure teams to ensure automation tools are integrated with the appropriate infrastructure components.
  • Identify and address technical issues with automation tools and processes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for automation tools and processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years expert-level Splunk Architect experience
  • Well-versed with search head and indexer clustering topology
  • Hands-on shell scripting and Linux/Windows system administration experience
  • Some expertise in programming languages such as Java, Python and/or Windows scripts
  • Thorough knowledge of regular expressions
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills and tenaciousness to drive vendors, system admins and others to deliver solutions together
  • Creative individual with a track record of working on and implementing innovative technology solutions

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with deployment tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, BladeLogic and/or AutoSys
  • Experience working in a secure, multi-data center environment
  • Experience with other monitoring tools
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or any quantitative discipline
