At Balance, we're building the financial infrastructure that powers the next generation of B2B commerce. Our platform enables businesses to streamline payments, automate financial workflows, and deliver exceptional purchasing experiences.
We're looking for a passionate Senior Backend Engineer to join the platform team, help design and scale our system, infrastructure and dev tools.
Salary range- 3500-4000 Euros Monthly
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle—from ideation and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy and platform evolution.
- Contribute to how we shift towards agentic software development lifecycle.
- Support Balance’s rapid business growth.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data teams, fellow engineers and other stakeholders.
- Mentor and support fellow engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
- You’re curious about and actively experimenting with how AI changes Software Development Lifecycle.
- 7+ years of experience building production-grade backend applications.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
- Significant practical experience building distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale production databases, including PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
- Experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or serverless architectures.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and design patterns.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Frontend experience with React or similar frameworks is an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is an advantage.
