Position: Project Manager, People Team

Location: Cambridge

The Job

Leading projects which have an impact both internally to the people team and externally to the business, this role manages projects which contribute towards transformational change or enable the people team to support the business through significant change. The Project Manager will manage projects of low to medium complexity and/or support larger programmes and more complex projects led by a Senior Project Manager. The role may also support People team colleagues to initiate their own projects, providing tools and guidance so that the People team colleague can then run the project themselves.  The role is goal oriented and requires collaboration and creativity to navigate a variety of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, to scope, within budget and to the required standard
  • Oversee the entire project lifecycle from initiation through to closure
  • Manage workstreams within wider programmes and complete reporting and escalations to the Senior People Project Manager
  • Manage internal and external resources to deliver projects, working with the Senior People Project Managers to source resources where needed
  • Agree the definition of the project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure project team is assembled based on resource availability and skills required
  • Establish and facilitate project governance
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress, using agreed tools
  • Plan and manage transition of the finished project products into BAU
  • Facilitate quality assurance, including regulatory, statutory and corporate compliance
  • Manage and influence stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved
  • Manage changes to scope, project schedule and project costs, securing necessary approvals
  • Ensure project risks and issues are effectively identified, managed and escalated if required; perform proactive contingency planning
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation in line with the required process and standard
  • Communicate and report in a timely manner; escalate as appropriate
  • Analyse successful completion of goals and projects to establish best practice; orchestrate project review and document lessons learnt.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills
  • Experience of project management or significant experience of project coordination
  • Strong resource planning and scheduling skills
  • HR professional, ideally with regional or global experience
  • Able to track budget
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Organisational skills including attention to detail and multitasking; working to deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills – planning for success and can-do attitude
  • Flexibility to work in a global team
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, collaboration tools and video-conferencing platforms, particularly MS Teams
  • Working knowledge of Project Management Tools.
  • Working knowledge of data protection regulations like GDPR.
