Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer to join our Fairport Harbor team in Painesville,  OH. As a Sr. Process Engineer, you will be responsible for reducing product and process variation by applying Six Sigma / statistical tools and the implementation or improvement of existing procedures and process controls.   • Management of 4-5 process engineers and process technicians , including technical support, development planning, and performance reviews.

  • Be a business partner to the site leadership team.

  • Support day to day operations in the production environment and work with other staff to identify, select, prioritize and implement process improvement projects.

  • Provide emergency support for significant operational issues when they occur. Must be accessible by phone 24/7.

  • Identify & analyze production problems using Six Sigma methodologies to control & improve manufacturing processes.

  • Loss reduction & continuous improvement in coating line productivity & product quality through the use of problem solving, Six Sigma & project management skills.

  • Continually improve & optimize current products through variation reduction.

  • Provide support for new product development and material changes as they arise by engaging with and being a member of R&D and commercial teams.

  • Develop control strategies for sustaining all continuous improvement projects.

  • Initiate, manage & participate in safety, quality, cost & process improvement projects.

  • Provide ongoing process evaluation—including trials & capability studies.

  • Implementation of new equipment & operating procedures.

  • Mentoring other technical resources and operations personnel.

  • Developing and implementing technical training.

  • Assisting in the development of long-term strategies.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in engineering from an accredited university is required. Chemical or Mechanical engineering preferred.

  • 4+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience with statistical analysis, statistical process controls, SPC, DOE, FMEA, and MSE.

  • Ability to develop, implement, monitor, measure, and control functional improvement plans.

  • Strong problem solving, decision analysis, situation appraisal skills.

  • Ability to interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Project management experience and demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.

  • Ability to influence others.

  • Approachable, effective in giving/receiving feedback.

  • Proven ability to accomplish goals by delegating through teamwork.

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Strong PC skills – CAD, Google Suite, MINITAB, QSI and QIS experience a plus.

Preferred:

  • Management experience.

  • Experience with Controls, instrumentation, PLC knowledge. 

  • Experience with Pressure Sensitive Adhesives / web based processes.

  • ISO 9001-2000 experience with implementation, improvement, and sustainment.

  • Six Sigma exposure/experience. Green Belt / Black Belt certification is a plus.
