The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated and experienced Reliability Engineer to optimize our NuSil team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives. 

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Bakersfield, CA facility. You will have the opportunity to ensure the reliability and maintenance of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, and controls through loss elimination and risk management. The team 

Avantor’s NuSil team is part of our Lab and Production Services business unit. This team supports the innovation and growth objectives of major industries across the globe by helping with the integration of new technology solutions into their processes and operations. 

What we’re looking for 

  • Education: Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
  • Experience: 5+ years in reliability engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in reliability engineering related processes.
  • Expertise in multiple areas of maintenance and reliability, material management, planning and scheduling, and CMMS / EAM / ERP optimization.
  • Must have demonstrated effective communication skills and practices, and have experience with office and reliability productivity tools.
  • Must have an understanding of the RCM process, failure mode identification, defect analysis, cause and effect analysis, loss elimination, determination of probability, and consequence of failures; along with the use of sFMEA, RCFA decision logic, and writing tasks to mitigate identified failures.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of generic problem solving, and in particular the RCA process.
  • Must have strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Have a solid knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, and repair.
  • Must have an understanding of Asset Management, its various components and organization.
  • Must have an understanding of condition monitoring principles, tools, and application.
  • Must have at least one certification in reliability: (CMRP, CRL, etc.), and be willing to continually pursue knowledge and certifications in reliability and predictive technologies.
  • Ability to communicate/teach reliability best practices, condition monitoring, and precision methods.

How you will thrive and create an impact 

  • Work with Project Management to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
  • Assist in developing design/installation specifications and commissioning plans. Assist in developing criteria for and evaluating equipment and technical MRO suppliers and maintenance service providers. Develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
  • Participate in the pre-startup safety review of new installations.
  • Participate in factory and site acceptance testing to confirm adherence to functional specifications.
  • Define, design, develop, monitor, and refine an asset maintenance plan that includes both (a) value-added preventive maintenance tasks and (b) predictive and other non-destructive testing methods designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability issues.
  • Develop or recommend engineering solutions to repetitive failures and other problems that adversely affect plant operations.
  • Apply appropriate data analysis techniques to fulfill the above responsibility. These may include:
    • statistical process control
    • reliability modeling and prediction
    • fault tree analysis
    • Weibull analysis
    • Six Sigma (6σ) methodology
    • root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause failure analysis (RCFA)
    • failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system (FRACAS)
  • Develop Reliability Improvement Process (RIP) reports on critical asset failures.
  • Work with Operations to analyze asset characteristics, including:
    • asset availability
    • overall equipment effectiveness
    • remaining useful life
    • other parameters that define asset operating conditions, reliability, and costs
  • Provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance management, and technical personnel.
  • Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$58,000.00 - $97,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
