Technical QA Engineer [Fixed Term]

Team: Development

Location: Stockholm, Malmö

Commitment: Fixed Term Employment

Workplace Type: hybrid

We are looking for an Experienced Technical QA Engineer to join our team. You will be working closely with our Engine and Internal Tools teams to help to improve the test and development processes, and proactively provide support as needed.

This position owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of a given feature, function or set of tools, or technical subsystems where you will be part of a rapidly iterating development team working closely with developers and production.

You will do this by creating and maintaining a quality program of extensive end-to-end tests, integration tests, and release/change management processes. You will become a driver of the quality process and an expert of the Apex engine with all its associated in-house and 3rd party tools.

What you’ll do

  • Work as embedded Technical QA within a development team to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features / releases
  • Active participation in the daily work of your team (stand-ups, bug triage, planning, etc.)
  • Using a mix of manual and technical testing skills to execute a variety of testing techniques to analyze the quality, including editor and tools, integration and performance testing
  • Development and maintenance of QA tools (such as remote console, simple debug, local servers etc)
  • Mentor, teach and train your fellow QA Engineers in your areas of expertise
  • Creating test plans and test cases as well as their implementation and maintenance
  • Reporting bugs into the bug tracking system, and regress bugs daily in the database

Who you are

  • Several years of experience from the software industry, where minimum 3 years of experience are specifically from the video games industry.
  • Hands-on experience with game engines, content and asset editors, software tools, and shared technologies.
  • Good familiarity with any source control, debuggers, and other software development tools (e.g. Perforce, Visual Studio, etc).
  • Understanding of build systems, continuous integration, unit tests, automated functional tests, and testing frameworks.
  • Experience with QA practices, methodologies, and bug prevention strategies.
  • Experience with development planning tools and defect tracking tools (e.g. Hansoft, JIRA, DevTrack, TestRail, etc).
  • Experience in test automation
  • Scripting experience in languages such as Python or JavaScript, shell scripting and CLI tools.
  • Understanding of C++
Note: Research shows under-represented groups in the industry might not apply to a job if they don’t check off every requirement. At Avalanche, we’re more about your drive to learn and interest in tackling challenges than what’s on your resume! So don’t stress if you don’t tick every box— shoot us your application anyway! Diverse opinions and different experiences are what make our teams so great, not itemized lists of qualifications.
