Aurora is actively seeking highly skilled and detail-oriented technicians to join our manufacturing production environment. Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proven expertise in assembling both simple and complex hardware systems. A profound passion for trucks, cars, and cutting-edge future technologies is essential for success in this role. We are looking for individuals who are not only technically proficient but also possess a keen eye for quality and a commitment to precision in every task. If you thrive in a dynamic manufacturing setting and are eager to contribute to the advancement of autonomous technology, we encourage you to apply.

In this role, you will

  • Be responsible for assembling self-driving vehicles and their sub-assemblies. Your role will involve working within the Aurora Manufacturing Quality Management System (QMS). You will need to adhere to safety standards and meet internal deadlines while working with minimal oversight.
  • Additionally, you will help aid in the creation of build documentation, attend training sessions through on-the-job mentorship, or a traditional classroom environment.  As a Hardware Technician on Aurora's Manufacturing Team, you will play a crucial role in bringing self-driving technology to life. Your primary responsibilities will center around the hands-on assembly of cutting-edge self-driving vehicles and their intricate sub-assemblies. This demanding yet rewarding position requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
A fundamental aspect of your work will involve operating strictly within the guidelines of the Aurora Manufacturing Quality Management System (QMS). Adherence to these established procedures is paramount to ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability in all manufactured components and vehicles. You will be expected to consistently uphold rigorous safety standards, contributing to a secure and productive work environment for yourself and your colleagues. Furthermore, you will be tasked with meeting internal deadlines, often working independently with minimal oversight, demonstrating your ability to manage your time effectively and deliver results efficiently.
  • In addition to your core assembly duties, you will actively contribute to the ongoing improvement of our manufacturing processes. This includes assisting in the creation and refinement of detailed build documentation, which is essential for consistent and repeatable manufacturing. Your professional development will be a priority, and you will participate in various training sessions designed to enhance your skills and knowledge. These learning opportunities may take several forms, including on-the-job mentorship, where you gain practical experience and insights, or more traditional classroom environments, providing a deeper theoretical understanding of complex systems and manufacturing principles. This blend of practical application and formal instruction will ensure you are continually growing and adapting to the evolving landscape of autonomous vehicle technology.

Required Qualifications

  • We warmly welcome candidates with 2+ years of experience with a background in technical trade school or other educational equivalent. Familiarity with ISO-9001 or standardized process environments is preferred.

They should be able to assemble wiring harnesses, read wiring schematics and layouts, and have experience with various software tools and standard documentation practices. Basic proficiency in both Windows and Mac operating systems is necessary.
  • Candidates must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. They should possess a customer-focused mindset regarding delivering quality and be willing to reason, isolate, and resolve issues.
  • Physical abilities are important, as candidates will need to handle, feel, and control objects, as well as grasp, move, and assemble small items. The role requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, carry materials, bend at the waist, reach, and kneel for extended periods. Candidates must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs that are 20 to 25 feet high, with a maximum unassisted lift of 50 pounds and a typical lift of 20 pounds or less. They should also be able to pull or push wheeled equipment to build locations.
