About Atomic Semi
Atomic Semi is building a small, fast semiconductor fab.
It’s already possible to build this with today’s technology and a few simplifications. We’ll build the tools ourselves so we can quickly iterate and improve.
We’re building a small team of exceptional, hands-on engineers to make this happen. Mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process. We’ll own the stack from atoms to architecture. Our team is optimistic about the future and we want to continue pushing the limits of technology.
Smaller is better. Faster is better. Building it ourselves is better.
We believe our team and lab can build anything. We’ve set up 3D printers, a wide array of microscopes, e-beam writers, general fabrication equipment - and whatever is missing, we’ll just invent along the way.
Atomic was founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller. Sam is best known for making chips in his garage, and Jim has been a leader in the semiconductor industry for the past 40 years.
About the Team
The Fab Software team builds the product that runs our entire fab—a central web app used to manufacture chips. Our users are internal process engineers. We build tools for managing hardware, monitoring and controlling systems in real time, designing processes, and analyzing experimental data. The work on this team spans frontend, backend, and data, all focused on making the fab programmable, observable, and easy to operate as we push toward a fully software-defined chip manufacturing process driven by AI and ML orchestration.
About the role
We are looking for a Fullstack Software Engineer with an eye for design to build the product that runs our entire fab. You will work on a central web app that serves as the nervous system of our operation, connecting our software, hardware, robotics, and humans.
Over the next year, you will focus on user-facing features that allow our process engineers to interact directly with hardware, workflows, and data. You will build beautiful, highly functional displays so they can easily analyze, run, and control their physical experiments. In parallel, you will help integrate these internal process control tools with our external-facing design studio. This role gives you a broad, high-level view of the entire company, connecting the software you write directly to the physical robotics we rely on to build chips.
Responsibilities
Build and ship core product features for our central web app, directly impacting how our manufacturing operation runs on a daily basis.
Develop highly responsive, intuitive UIs that allow process engineers to seamlessly monitor and control physical hardware in real time.
Design and build dedicated internal tools that streamline process design, orchestrate workflows, and manage complex physical experiments.
Own major features end-to-end across the stack, taking full accountability from the backend architecture all the way to the frontend user experience.
Iterate rapidly by working directly alongside our internal users—process engineers and hardware teams—to translate their feedback into powerful, reliable software.
Required Experience
Strong demonstrated experience building and shipping real-world applications autonomously.
Proficient in TypeScript, React, and Go, with a strong command of software fundamentals.
Comfortable working end-to-end across the stack (frontend and backend) to take broad ownership of major features.
Demonstrated ability to build clean, fast, and intuitive interfaces, seamlessly translating complex manufacturing challenges into highly usable frontends.
Strong product sense and design taste, with a track record of earning trust through the consistent delivery of reliable software.
Nice-to-haves
Experience building software tailored for highly technical users, such as engineers, scientists, or data teams.
Hands-on experience with complex data visualization or real-time, interactive user interfaces.
Familiarity with Rust or WebAssembly (or a strong curiosity to jump in and learn them).
An exceptional eye for UI/UX design, with the taste to make dense, complex manufacturing workflows feel effortless to use.
