The Senior Principal Developer Solutions Consultant’s focus is on products and experiences that apply AI to redefine software development, removing repetitive tasks and work for customers and radically improving developer and software team productivity. This work is on the leading edge of technical capability and will have a huge industry impact.
You will partner with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Support, and Customer Success teams across Atlassian to provide the solutions and technical guidance to help the customer achieve their desired outcomes and goals on Atlassian’s product set via our core products, Forge and Rovo during the pre-sales cycle.
About the Role:

In this role, you will be a key player in designing, developing, and implementing advanced AI solutions using Atlassian's Forge platform and Rovo, a key component of Atlassian's Central AI initiative. You will act as a consultant, guiding our key customers and internal teams on the solution development and design of AI agents, designed to enhance team workflows by automating repetitive tasks and providing intelligent insights to their organization and key stakeholders. Your role is pivotal, stretching beyond these tasks and ensuring AI's transformative potential is realized across our offerings. Since this is an emerging motion with our customers, you’ll also be charged (as a team) with developing and iterating on the framework to communicate the potential and limitations of Agents and . A key measure of success will be executing tailored demos and proof of concepts with customers and, in collaboration with solution engineering and Sales leadership, building a handoff, qualification and prioritization process.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Design: Lead the solution design and architecture of complex AI solutions using the Forge platform. Define the technical roadmap and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Development: Develop and deploy sophisticated Rovo agents tailored to specific client needs. Utilize Forge modules such as
ai:agent
andai:action
to create intelligent and responsive agents.Consultation: Act as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams, providing expert guidance on AI integration, best practices, and innovative solutions.
Customization: Customize and extend Rovo agents to perform specialized tasks, integrate with third-party APIs, and utilize advanced Forge features.
Project Management: Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to development, testing, and deployment.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers, to ensure successful project delivery.
Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and Forge development, and proactively explore new opportunities to enhance our solutions.
Qualifications:
Experience: Extensive experience in developing applications using Atlassian Forge or similar platforms. Proven track record of delivering complex AI solutions.
AI Expertise: Deep understanding of AI concepts, including natural language processing, machine learning, data analytics and prompt engineering to garner consistant results from AI Solutions.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python. Strong experience with API integration and cloud services.
Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving skills and willingness to solve ambiguous and complex problems, as well as the ability to navigate through uncertain situations, break down complex challenges into manageable components, and develop innovative solutions for our customers.
Nail & Scale: Familiar with piloting approaches to make fast progress and ultimately designing for scale across a global field organization.
Customer First Mindset: Oriented for testing approaches directly with customers with a keen appreciation for customer problems.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in project management and team mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Atlassian Products: In-depth knowledge of Atlassian products like Jira, Confluence, and JSM.
Engineering Leadership & Developer Experience: Experience with guiding Developer teams and Engineering leadership on how to build on and customize the Atlassian platform.
Forge Modules: Expertise in Forge modules such as

.AI Ethics: Strong understanding of ethical considerations in AI development and deployment.
Consulting Experience: Previous experience in a consulting role, with a proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver tailored solutions.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate and explain data science concepts to diverse audiences, craft a compelling story
Technical Skills: Background in SaaS based-architectures, integration methods, and security considerations
Expertise in Python or Java with and the ability to write performant production-quality code, familiarity with SQL, knowledge of Spark and cloud data environments (e.g. AWS, Databricks)
Identifying customer business challenges; providing insights that help decision-makers discover opportunities and the value of addressing them with Atlassian’s Cloud solutions to achieve better long-term results.
Ensure the voice of the customer is represented inside of Atlassian, contributing direct and actionable feedback to both internal Product teams in their specific solution area(s)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Sales and GTM teams, CSS, Channel and other internal and external Partner teams to support the client, identify and promote new and expansion opportunities, and drive success.
Spend up to 30% of your time traveling domestically, and in some cases internationally, for both internal and customer-facing events
