We are currently seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join the Geotechnical Practice in Ontario, providing technical and operational leadership, having superior client relations skills and a proven ability to deliver major assignments.

Your Contribution:

Our geotechnical engineers work closely with other AtkinsRéalis professional’s multiple sectors such as transportation, rail & transit, energy, cities and developments as well as industrial. You will participate on multi-disciplinary teams and projects and will be expected to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects of all scales.

The successful applicant will be a senior Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer with a proven technical and project management track record and a particular focus on the Transportation and Energy sectors. The role will include the execution of complex and major programs, supporting complex proposals, mentoring of junior staff, as well as act as technical reference, and therefore good communication skills are essential.

The candidate will have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a post graduate qualification in a geotechnical subject and have a minimum of 20 years’ pertinent experience.

Candidates should have the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our infrastructure geotechnics capability by building on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.

This role will be based in Vaughan, ON.

The ideal candidate:

• Extensive experience in energy, highways, rail, municipal roads and bridges
• Proven experience delivering High complexity projects with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario is considered is strong asset.
• A strong academic background with a relevant degree (MSc or higher equivalent).
• Expertise in numerical modeling for soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geo-structural interaction.
• Proven geotechnical design experience in bridges, retaining structures, tunnels, slopes.
• Proven experience of acting in a senior role in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment, with the ability to peer-review and produce quality deliverables.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence to lead liaison with clients and the ability to support the development of teams.
